Well, it's time for another weekend of trying to conquer the Federation in a flash.

You are Lieutenant Commander David Lister, ace mobile suit pilot for the Principality of Zeon, and you have been having a Bad Day (tm).
This morning you took off from Albuerquerque and after a combat drop in Chihuahua you proceeded to stall the federation advance there, but your unit and your mothership, the Zanzibar Kai class cruiser "Outer Heaven" all took heavy damage.
But your day wasn't over there, you then attempted to mount a rear attack against Federal forces on their way to Nuevo Laredo, unfortunately you got attacked by an enemy MS team and you had to perform and emergency combat drop to take them down and rescue the survivors of a Zeonic picket unit.

By this point your ride had enough holes in it to drive a truck through it, so after dropping you off in the town of Nuevo Laredo, the Outer Heaven bugged out to the nearest starship docks that could repair her.

    California basically.

A lack of tactical oversight is likely the cause of this.

Regardless, what is the exact situation around us?

What do our defenses look like? These guys have had the last few hours to get things set up, I expect at least some MS-sized trenches and barricades. Any minefields? Pitfalls or other traps? Static AA emplacements? What are our current forces here? I know there's the Laredo battalion, but I thought that one or two near cities were sending their troops to help as well. And just how many tanks and aircraft are we expecting the enemy to throw at us?

Are they literally just storming across the country side or are they takeing that little road?

    Current defensive layout is this.

The initial thick red line represents the first primary line of defence. This is roughly 18 miles long, mostly quickly erected MS grade barricades, plus several quickly made fire towers with AT guns.
The hashed red area behind that repesents the strategic retreat zone. further trenches and bunker have been constructed in this zone that will allow retreating forces to hole themselves up in for a while and try to counterattack the enemy if they are forces to move off the first line. There are about 5 "redoubt zone" that a Zeon force can retreat to if required. This are is also rife with AA guns and small scale artillery.

The final line of defence is the thin red line, this is the last stand area. The engineering corps are still reinforcing it now, and you have landed and disembarked in this area.

    >Are they literally just storming across the country side or are they takeing that little road?

You honestly don't know. Don Martin cost Zeonic forces in this area much of their air support and recon assets, they're fairly sure that the enemy forces are coming in this direction, and they still have scouts on the flanks to tell them if they're trying to outflank them, but so far no sign.

Okay, well, whatever happens, Calvin will be on scout duty with a Dodai. He can feed targeting information to the artillery you said was scattered throughout the defensive zone to help them coordinate. Can we get an idea of what MS the Zeon Battalion has? Is it all just Zaku 2s?

As for things we can do right off the bat, I'm thinking Calvin heading off on a Dodai with Zol to scout the enemy forces and see where they're headed, and get an estimate on their numbers. See if they have anymore feddie suits with them, and if they've more than just the two Big Trays we saw before.

Does the mechanized infantry battalion have wappas? Unguided RPGs? I'm thinking they can hole up in the city and give the feddies a taste of the guerrilla warfare we got back at Chihuahua.

    >Can we get an idea of what MS the Zeon Battalion has? Is it all just Zaku 2s?

Mostly, the occaisonal Gouf as well, but that's it. Most of the Zaku's are of the J type variety, and there's no Desert or Cannon types.

    >Does the mechanized infantry battalion have wappas? Unguided RPGs? I'm thinking they can hole up in the city and give the feddies a taste of the guerrilla warfare we got back at Chihuahua.

Some Wappas, but mostly APC's, and most of this battle takes place on the outskirts of the city.

Alright, one post before I'm off to class. Have Zol, Elaine, and David as a rapid response/hit and run unit. Hovis and Jol are rapid response arty, ready to put rounds wherever Calvin tells them to in a moments notice. Calvin is flying about on his Dodai, relaying enemy strength and position, and targeting telemetry.

I wouldn't send Calvin in on a Dodai with Zol. If you recall during our last mission they fucking scrubbed our Air Cover, so they'll probably have enough aircraft to make a mission like that a fool's errand.

Between 65% and 75% depending on where you are. Short to medium range radio and short range radar are viable.

    >Yeah, scout out first. While they're doing that, the rest of us go to survey the line. We should try to stay centered so that we can respond to the enemy wherever they strike. Hovis and Jolyne stay back and give artillery support, Elaine, Zol (When he gets back and the battle actually starts) and us will be the rapid response force.

You send Zolomon and Calvin out on Dodai's to scout the enemy positions. They keep low to resist detection and to avoid enemy air units. After about half an hour they return, a sporting a couple of dents from some bullets, but otherwise unharmed.

They report that the enemy advance is roughly as follows. The primary thrust is heading up the main road towards Dependecia, but several smaller forces have split off and are making their way cross country towards the enemy lines.
Whilst they were able to spot both Big Tray battleships they didn't see any more, also they can't be sure if the enemy has more.
On the other hand they also didn't see any enemy Mobile Suits.
    >> Anonymous 03/12/10(Fri)13:45 No.8546506
    >>8546469

Are the Big Tray's seperate or together? In the middle of the Feddie lines, ahead or behind? Also, what's the size of those splinter forces? Any idea on enemy air strength?

Unless the Big Trays are leaving themselves open (which would be awesome) I think our best bet would be to try to head out and wipe out those splinter forces. If we're lucky and take a few out maybe we could try to get Hovis and Jolyne some shots on the Big Trays.

Keep in mind those are only KNOWN splinter forces, they're could be others that you aren't aware of.

As for the Big Tray's they are staying with the primary thrust along the motorway, and are supported by at least three companies of tanks, as well as the lions share of air assets.
    >> Cecil XIX 03/12/10(Fri)13:50 No.8546567
It's likely that there are mobile suits either far behind enemy lines or in the Big Trays. Let us send David, Ruubens and Jolyn after those two northen detachments. Attach Zolomon to a unit defending against the main thrust for now, and have Calvin fly with us to relay communication with the main forces.
    >> Anonymous 03/12/10(Fri)13:53 No.8546585
    >>8546550

Well in that case, given our units speed advantage, lets head out quickly and go for an attack on the northern splinter force. If we can destroy it, lets loop around behind, attack any supply train or artillery support and possibly plan on going after those other splinter forces from the rear.

Of course we should inform local command of our intentions, get their input, and get Ramirez debriefed before we head out. As long as we can do it quickly, before it's too late.

AWH APOLOGISED I WORKED SO HARD ON MINE! (Not really I wrote it in like 2 minutes) D:

    Anyway:
David: Dom; 330mm Bazooka, 90mm MG, Reloads, Panzerfausts, Heat Saber
    Elaine: ^
Jolyn: Dom Cannon: 90mm MG, Reloads, Panzerfausts (If possible) Heat Saber
Zol: Gouf Zolomon Custom, Gatling Shield, 35mm Wrist Gatlings, Twin Heat Hawks, Heat Rod, Shotgun for anti-ms Work.
    Hovis: Rhino, 'nuff said
    Calvin: Flipper Zaku on Dodai

Again, I recommend that David, Elaine, and Zol move as a rapid response unit, with Hovis and Jol as mobile artillery, with Calvin spotting for us. I don't like the idea of attacking a splinter without solid intel and no air support. Strikes me as generally stupid. Especially when Federation MS could be involved. I say we stick with the defensive line, and perform lightning strikes through gaps in the Feddie lines.

General strategy: Hovis and Jolyne stay back with the rest of the artillery and take targeting information from Hobbes, who does his usual job of scouting on a dodai. Our team, the rapid response force, starts at the center of the line and heads to wherever the fighting is fiercest, to give our side the push it needs to hold the line.

    Loadout:
Us and Elaine- 90mm MG, 330mm bazooka, crackers, extra reloads, panzerfaust.
Zol-Two Heat Hawks, all built-in weaponry, shotgun, crackers, panzerfaust, extra ammo.

Okay, so the generla gist is that you don't actually want to go out and attack any of the splinter groups, so you'll wait for the first signs of trouble and use your Dom's high speed to rapidly respond to the attack.

Your team situates itself in the green X. It is one of the defensive boltholes dug out by the engineering corps, there is also an artillery battery here which have also linked in with your teams spotter data.

After a tense wait for about a further 30 minutes, the first attacks come.

We can expect that the Feddies are going to try to break out towards the bridge north of the city proper; if they can use it, they're across the Rio Grande and behind our defenses, without having to fight their way through the city to do it.

So we want to have that bridge ready to be blown. Preferably, pre-sited artillery to drop it into the river. But if we can, we want to do this after the Feddies have started to cross; that way, we kill anything they have on the bridge when it comes down.

And we can harass them all the way back from the river to their startline west of Nuevo Laredo.

Well, yes, for now at least. But better to be prepared to blow the bridge to the north and not have to than to need to blow it and not be able to.

As a more immediate concern, we're going to want to find and kill the Feddie Big Trays.

We also might want the local commander to call up Matamoros and tell them that the main Feddie strike in this part of the Rio Grande Defense Line is here at Laredo, and that we could use their help.

As you can see, the enemy has attacked simultaneously in multiple areas of the defensive line.

The upper prong is a mixed Infantry/Tank unit that is staging a blitzkrieg attack on the defence line. The infantry are using the Farm houses in this area for cover, and the tanks are routinely popping smoke. Artillery is shelling the area and enemy fighter/bombers are also assisting, however an AA encampment is reducing their effectiveness.

Local forces consist of one squad of Zaku's and two squadrons of Magella Tanks.

Below that, the Blue X signifies the location of 1 Big Tray battleship, supported by at least one Mobile Assault Gun squadron that are providing close range artillery support for the nearby area. There is a heavy amount of enemy air forces covering this site as well.
They are currently encamped in a power station (I think, It's hard to tell with google maps.)

The second attack prong is taking place in a woodland area that is providing cover for the tanks, forces appear light, and a firendly artillery unit is providing firepower, but the lack of accurate recon data is making it ineffectual. There are two squads of Mobile Suits here and two platoons of Mech Inf. here as well.

The third force appears to be backed up by the second Big Tray, which is using the heavy trees as cover, the assault is mostly tanks and some Mobile Artillery Guns, there is a notable fighter presence as well. A squadron of Magella Tanks and a Company of Mech Infantry are holding this area, and enemy fighters are thick in the area. The 57th MS Company is stationed nearby and is moving to assist.

The final prong is a force of high speed light vehicles mounting unguided AT and A-MS weapons, they appear to be trying to breach the defences with supporting bombers escorted by TinCods so that this raiding force can breach the defensive line and assault the positions behind. So far, the 2 MS Squads and a squadron of Magella's aren't letting them but the Bombing is taking it's toll.

Zolomon with us, time to get close and personal.
Use our DOMSPEED to get close FAST, so that the enemy fighters/bombers can't shoot at us without risking hitting their units. Move hard and fast, take attacks on targets of opportunity but do not slow down the assault on the big tray. Concentrate fire on it's main batteries while closing to melee range. Hack the bridge up and get out of their. With it disabled, it will be a problem for the feddies and they will have to divide resources to save/secure it, which means less units in the fight.

I meant the first big tray. It's set up in an electrical plant, has at least one mobile assault gun squad, probably more, guarding it, along with lots of aircraft. The second big tray, yeah, we can probably do it since the trees give us cover, but trying to get the first one, while it's in cover and we're out in the open, doesn't seem doable unless we get some serious support. Which is why I say we should just have Hovis shell it to Kingdom Come.

Okay, so Jolyne and Hovis are on AA duty, though perhaps not right there on the front combat zone.

    "Affirmative."

"Right, we'll hold the line whilst you go ahead and take it out."

    "Thanks!"

You get to the line ahead of the MS company, you can see smoke and explosions. It looks like the Tanks and infantry have taken a pounding, and there are several breaches in the defensive wall, and a AT firetower has been toppled.
The infantry have set themselves up in defensive postions around the breach and are ambushing tanks that try to pass through with close range AT weapons. But they're getting shelled pretty heavily now.

You can leap over the walls or you can exit through the breaches, the Support team can follow you or stay here.

Okay, finally, the majority has it, the Support team stays back, shells enemy air forces from here, whilst the rest of you jump over the walls.

You all leap over the walls, for a second all of the enemy forces can see you, a couple send shots your way, but you're advance was too fast for them to get any real advance warning and the shots do little damage.
Your then dashing though the trees and enemy tanks, several shots from your bazooka's are able to leave some big holes in the front line, and your able to dash through and into the rear.
You follow the trail west towards the heavy cannon fire, occaisionally having to dodge the odd shell, or take out a stray tank or Motor Artillery, the enemy air forces attempt to slow you down or pin you so that the artillery can shell you, but your support team and the 57th company are able to suppress them with flak.

Zol goes around, taking potshots at the tanks while he does it. Elaine and Dave sprint across the lake. Dave hits the bridge of the Tray with a bazooka shot, Elaine aims for the guns with hers. After that, meet up with Zol, finish off the tanks and artillery, then head for Tray #2.

You dash towards the enemy Land Battleship across the lake, leaving plumes of steam behind you, coincidentially obscuring Zolomon as he begins his around route. The tanks and battleship see you and begin to send shells your way, taking a gracefully zig-zagging path you and elaine avoid their fire whilst firing your Bazooka's at the battleship guns.
There are a couple of near misses, but eventually the guns fall silent and you make it onto the shore.

You are now in close range of the enemy, and the Big Tray attempts to make a retreat, you dash forward, but have to pull away to avoid a concentrated counter-attack by the tanks. You swing your Bazooka around and fire into the mass of them, tanks fly into the air.
Unfortunately your Bazooka has run it's clip out.
Elaine sends her last shot at the Big Tray's bridge, but you know from past experiance it will take more than one hit to take it down. You pull out a Panzerfaust and shoot it at the bridge, the RPG flies erratically though and only manages a glancing blow against the superstructure.

The tanks are firing again, and you pull out the 90mm. Your armour is taking some hits, but it's nothing serious.
You spray the enemy tanks, trying to get them to retreat, but they proess on with the attack and you are forced to put some distance between the two of you to survive.
Luckily at this point you see Zolomon ambush the retreating Big Tray.
Presently there is a large explosion and Zolomon adds another Battleship kill to his ever expanding kill markings.

    You finish off the tanks.

ENEMY AIR ASSETS ARE MAKING EVEN MORE PRESSING ATTACKS AGAINST YOU NOW, AND FEDERATION FORCES KNOW YOU ARE HERE.

You all reload and move north quickly to try and stop enemy forces from encircling and trapping you.

You get a Laser Communication from Calvin.

"We're moving along the line as well, we'll be supporting you from there if were able!"

After reloading your Bazooka, you quickly head North whilst enemy air planes start strafing you, you return fire a couple of times with your 90mm, and take a few out. But they're also able to get a few hits in as well, nothing hazardous, but it's still all adding up.

You travel for about 10 minutes like this, occaisionally discovering pockets of straggling or reloading Federation tanks, and taking them out with a bazooka or Panzerfaust. Until you eventually reach the end of the treeline.

From here it's about 8-900 meters to the power station, but there are at least three squads of tanks as well as IFV's and mounted infantry here. The terrain is open, and you will be easily spotted. With your speed you MIGHT make it through alive, but you're sure to take some hits on the way...

What's the range on our bazookas?

A Big Tray is, as the name implies, an enormous target. So if we have the range to hit it from where we're standing, I suggest we do just that. It's not going to be able to dodge.

Two bazooka shots apiece from Dave and Elaine, then one shot from each at a squad of tanks (each one at a different squad), then the final shots in the clip at the Big Tray. If the first four Bazooka rounds were enough to destroy the Tray, then use the final shots on the tanks and IFVs.

After we empty the clips, pull back south into the trees and try to lure surviving vehicles in after us, where we can heat saber and heat hawk them to death.

Zol shoots at targets of opportunity.

You quickly call in a heavy artillery barrage on the area. Meanwhile the tanks, having seen you move up to intercept, from the cover of the trees, you fire your bazooka into clustered formations, taking out several before they take a wider formation.

Then the artillery shells begin falling.
Explosions and plumes of dirt erupt all over the area, and in the distance you can see the Big Tray and it's Artillery assets begin counter barrage.

Seeing that you aren't going to get a better chance than this you dash forwards into the barrage zone, using your improved mobilty to keep yourself from being shelled, with the chaos of the artillery attack, few enemy units are able to target you and you make it to the Power Plant without incurring much further damage.

You take the time to reload, then using one of Elaine's Panzerfausts you blow a hole through the facing wall and force yourself an exit hole with a Bazooka shot. You quickly move through and into a mass of mechanised artillery towards the big tray. It's still firing, and it reacts slowly to you, you take the chance and fire a pair of 330mm missiles into the gun turrets closest to you, and are rewarded with them exploding, sending the turret flying into the air. Zipping between the firing Artillery you have to be careful not to catch a stray artillery shell in the face, and through the smoke the Point Defence guns on the Big Tray send shells pinging off your armour.
You all keep firing at it whilst it sideslips away from you, slowly rotating to bring it's front guns to bear.
You accellerate forwards, luckily ducking under the shell of an Artillery Carriage that sails overhead, and leap over the front guns before they fire at you. The shells sail harmlessly underneath you, altohugh you see Zolomon having to dive out of the way.

You bring down the Bazooka on the enemy bridge and fire the last rocket at point blank.

Not according to Mark Simmons's timeline it aint. In the conventional timeline tommorow was when the White Base was SUPPOSED to launch from Jaburo to Luna 2, but your attack and Project Terminus spooked them enough to launch 5 whole days early.

    See you tomorrow.

I still like to see those Omakes. We need to see how we can make our mark on the world around us in a way that doesn't involve explosions.

Oh, how long is Zeonquest going to last? Will we actually be running through the entire war?

So since it launched early, does that mean it might have loaded up the Gundam early and left already, without Amuro ever piloting it?

Speaking of Terminus, I'm write fagging a bit on it after you made the thing capable of chucking minovski emitters and thumpers into South America. Also going to have them dig the DOM teams out of the rubble so that they're not a total loss.
Most will have suffered damage though so it'll take awhile until they're redeployed elsewhere. Dont need to be breaking the timeline more by screwing over 90% of Zeon's Dom's built by this point in the war.

I think that's more lucky than we tend to get. If Char followed it like normal, there shouldn't really be any change.

No, the Gundam was still in testing right up until just before's Chars attack, so the WB is simply waiting about twiddling it's thumbs during this time. It might have spent an extra amount of time in Luna 2 as well.

Um. Actually I just had the Terminus defended with Zaku's and tanks, as the Zeon doesn't really have the resources to defend it with the kind of forces you were suggesting at the time.

Something I came up with the draw out a Federation attack awhile back. The original idea was to turn it into a trap and destroy the Federation forces attempting to attack the site. Had hoped that the feddies might have thrown early MS against it even.

Instead it was used to distract the majority of the Federation airforce while we attacked Jaburo. The site was bombed from altitude with 'super heavy bunker busters' or Earthquake bombs.

Uh, I think I remember some of the plans and posts saying that it was being defended by heavy MS. But whatever, you're the OP.

    >>8552098
So we're going to hear the story of the assault on Jaburo from their perspective? Sounds good, can't wait to read it.

And a secret death ray that made the sixth sheik's sixth sheep sick!

And a hundred more secret weapons with unpronounceable names.

oops. In order to chuck projectiles into the area around Jaburo carrying Minovski emitters and thumpers I had to redesign the system. Instead of a classic artillery style gun I had them ship in the salvaged remains of the Lunar Mass Driver that the Feddies had destroyed at the start of the war. Since it would have required a lot of power I figured I'd hook it up to the beam weapons from the Dom's that were supposed to be there since they wouldn't be needed until the Feddies began their attack.

I also support seeing Jaburo from the Feddie's perspective.

What? No it's supposed to be from the POV of the Zeon engineers building the gun half of them genuinely think is supposed to win the war.

Yeah, I want to see their part of the attack. Their part being the building of the Terminus and it's defense.

One thing we could try is getting M'Quve subordinated to Garma and the Earth Attack Force, instead of having two entirely separate Zeon command structures active on Earth at the same time.

I'm not sure if we can prevent Odessa from happening, barring mass introduction of Doms and/or Gelgoogs before then, but we should at least be able to change it into a fighting retreat instead of the disorderly rout that it turned into. The Feddies will actually have to work to pry us off the rest of Earth this time, instead of mopping up the remnants.

Well, that should be nice at least.

As long as the 603rd doesn't ask us to test anything. Maybe we can see about having them drop Zudahs from high altitude? Testing how much damage a mobile suit does when you drop it on someone's head could be useful. Well, more useful than anything else you could do with a Zudah.

On a more pleasant note, perhaps we'll be getting a Gelgoog prototype to test soon? I'm hoping we end the war in a Galbaldy.

They're an experimental weapon test regiment/battalion/whatever, and most of their test pilots die in the tests.
