Amazing story from Pokemon Heartgold I must share with you guys seeing as how there's a thread here.

Okay, so I had a level 22 Gastly at the time and a 26 Croconaw I mainly used, I had others too though, I was about to challenge whoever it is that controls the 4th (or 3rd) gym, he used Ghost type pokemon.

So I beat the first two, If I remember rightly he sent our a Gastly and Haunter, yes.

So then out comes his Gengar, level 25 (or 26), he wipes the floor with both my Gastly and Croconaw.

Those are my main tough guys, without them I'm screwed and I know it.

Well, may as well throw the other pokemon to get fainted, I thought, so I sent out my level 5 Togepi, now here comes the good part.

Gengar uses Shadow Ball, bam, this attack doesn't affect Togepi. That's one move he can't use. I use metronome 10 times (the limit of PP) while Gengar has no offensive moves besides Sucker Punch and Shadow Ball, while we know S.Ball doesn't work and neither does Sucker Punch seeing as how it only works when my Togepi is readying an offensive attack. Well, this goes on for ages, I just keep using moves like Growl and Charm until Gengar runs out of PP! He was never able to touch my Togepi!

Eventually he uses Curse and it's like poison, every now and then managing to hurt my Togepi, but also he runs out of PP and starts Struggle (a move which inflicts damage onto whoever has no moves to use now, in this case the opponent, Gengar.

This keeps going on and on, eventually, with well placed Metronomes from my Togepi and the Struggling of the Gengar, Gengar croaked and fainted.

Ding, from level 5 up to level 11 my Togepi rose.

I was shocked, the same happened for the next pokemon, a level 23 Haunter. And Togepi used the same strategy to humiliate Haunter too.

And that's my story of how a level 5 Togepi beat a level 25 Gengar and level 23 Haunter.

I knew I had to go to Cinnabar Island, whatever it was that was there. They say the experiments at the old mansion awakened something. Locals say the east coast is dead water, that wild pokemon avoid it like the plague. Lapras seemed hesitant to ferry me along that area, but I had to find out whatever it was that was there.

I saw something rather unusual. There was a charmeleon in the water. Standing, as if the water was solid land. I tried fighting it with Lapras, but something was wrong. It shrugged off her attacks, even the water ones, like they were nothing. Its flamethrower was blue-hot, hotter even than a Charizard's flames. The flame was so hot it boiled the water beneath it. Lapras was badly injured; I had to recall her. I swam as fast and as far as I could. That thing was impossibly powerful.

Then there was more of them. Kangaskhan, Blastoise, and a few others. All of them were stronger than any pokemon I'd seen before or since, and the land ones were walking on the water just like Charmeleon did. What is going on here?

oh also mewtwo if brought up right is the most powerful pokemon in the game.

itd be easy to do. take pokemon red, have the game go fine until you meet mewtwo. when you capture him he tells you that the old man you met in viridian is waiting for you outside of the cave, he cannot allow you to ally with mewtwo and stop THAT WHICH ENDS. mewtwo teleports you out of there to cinnibar island, and he blaine and team rocket brief you on the situation. from there you will need to be at level 100 for the rest of the game, as you join team rocket as they construct massive pylons all around kanto to permanently block THAT WHICH ENDS from crossing over.

I could see the Cinnabar coast, and I probably could have swum there if I wanted to, but I needed to see it.

After some hours of swimming, I finally encountered it. It rose from the waves like a monolith, and it seemed to be made of unreality itself. I reached into my pack for my master ball, only to find that something -some sort of corruption- had gone into there. My pack was bigger on the inside than the outside, and the insubstantial extra space seemed to be made out of the same unreality of the monolith before me. What's more, I found something bizarre: There were master balls aplenty, floating in the unreal space within my pack. I took one and threw it at the monstrosity. It went into the ball like any other pokemon, but something happened. Insidious tendrils of whatever that thing was made of spread from the ball. I heard haunting sounds and bizarre sights. I ran away from it, daring not to claim this terrible pokemon. The master ball sank beneath the waves.

My pack is still bizarre, but it has its uses. The many master balls come in handy, in any case. One final thing bothers me: in the records of my victories at the Indigo League Hall of Fame, there are things that never happened, and indeed *could* never happen. The videos sometimes have both sides speaking in tongues, or the pokemon fighting are mutated beyond recognition.

I think I have unleashed something terrible upon the world.

About two years ago I ran a homebrew Pokemon Mystery Dungeon campaign for my group. A lot of refugees had been flooding in from the Western Continent, all claiming a different disaster had happened. After multiple adventures including a Jigglupuff warlord, Wobbuffet prostitutes and riding on Rayquaza, they get to the continent and find it's been turned into the Chaos Wastes. Everything is blackened and twisted. The trees have eyes. They find a Girafarig corpse; its face has been turned into a mass of tentacles.

After a bit of adventuring they find the remains of an old human laboratory, haunted of course. They get the power on again and find a Rotom sealed into the system. Turns out the humans were using the lab to try and create an ultimate Pokemon, but failed, awfully. Instead they created an eldritch abomination, a force of entropy who's very unnatural presence was warping existance.

"The scientists couldn't kill it- how can you kill what isn't alive?-, so they trapped it in a Pokeball and sealed it away in the system. The earthquake must have damaged the machines and set it loose."

"The creature didn't have a name, but I know the name of the project that created it."
"What was that?"
"The project was named Project Missingno."

My players shat bricks. It was my most glorious roleplaying experience ever, seeing the look on their faces. I spent months keeping the final boss hidden from them. It was so worth it.

Turns out Missingno was a huge pulsating mass of flesh and tissue, like a Shoggoth. That was a fun final battle.

Missingno manifesting could effectively be the moon (endgame). Powers wouldn't have to be confined to retcon abilities. More just breaking reality and the game in general as you delve deeper and deeper into the conspiracy. Corrupting yourself and the world in the process. For a BAD END, the player could turn into another avatar of corruption if powers were overused. It seems to me that the more your character gets involved with the conspiracy, the more 'glitch city' the map should become. Pokemon aren't the only things that can be glitched. And I have enough experience with rom hacking Pokemon to know that it would be easy to make other people walk in places they shouldn't be, such as in buildings.

Kids, we're heading way out into .hack territory here. Missingno. , if it existed for reals in the Pokemon universe would clearly be the Pokemon equivalent of living cancer, a freakish immortal mass of cells (pixels) that destroys anything that it stays in contact with, and warps what it doesn't.

I though I could play the Gallant Knight again and save the world from the Evil monster. But I was wrong, the Old Man was right. My character was too flawed and He is something beyond my control.

Fanfiction aside, Anyone seen the stuff on ZZAZZ? It changes your name, replaces all your pokemon's backsprites with bulbasaurs, and may cause you to run into your own sprite as a trainer batlle, with your original name.

Some sort of lifestealing fetal entity born into the world with the intent of stealing trading your body for it's own? Surely ZZAZZ is a lesser corrupter of some form.

Man, Missingno. Was awesome. But the best glitch of all games for gameboy was in Link's Awakening. The non color version.

In it, you could warp across sceens by holding down the map butten just as you changed screen. If done correctly, you could carry npc's and monsters with you. IF you did this you could take the guy who runs the fishing minigame with you so he sat on a tree in the screen to the south.

If you talked to him and paid him the money, he'd let you enter an entire GLITCH WORLD. IT was awesome. I spent hours upon hours just exploring that place.
