I went from 60+ dwarves to ONE in a matter of months, I have my doubts that any migrants will come. It's early winter, by the way.

There are two goblins outside the fort who just aren't moving. They're not wounded, they're not trapped, they're just standing still. Thanks to the burrow system, the kid isn't about to run outside to give them a hug, at least.

Children will still harvest (and possibly seed), so, if you have water on your map, your orphan fortress might even make it without immigration.

Apparently if you reclaim in the current version, the invaders will be set to friendly when you embark, so you don't need to worry about taking dwarves with military skills.

They came in and started hitting the others, and the others all laid down and got quiet. Then the Ugly things went away, and then they came back. I played hide and seek for a while, but one found me and hit me.

DORF FORTRESS!

Goblins whittled down my militia in my first game. So in this fort I surrounded my entrance in with walls and a moat. Fort is accessible by drawbridges that are trapped like a motherfucker. Also ballistas.

Question though, I can't get my archer militia to actually fire. They seem to not be carrying crossbow bolts, is there something special I need to do to assign them some? Already have Arsenal Dwarf handling equipment.

Urist Rackwhispered has been ecstatic lately. She admired a fine Trade Depot, had a truly decadent drink, was forced to endure the decay of a friend, slept in a good bedroom, witnessed death, lost a friend to tragedy, been satisfied at work, disgusted by a miasma, and admired a Door recently.

It's back to 1st Granite, and I am going to let it run unattended for a few minutes while I take care of something. Be strong, Urist. Be strong.

I once embarked next to a fire demon who descended from the sky like a god, raining fire down from the heavens on a kobold raiding party. He sent out cones of fire and lit the world up in flames as the hapless invaders cowered in fear. Once all the ambushers were dead, he sat on the plains engulfed in fire and observed his ravaged world. And as he smiled at the flames, burning up the sides of the obsidian fortress, he himself slipped into ashes and became what he wrought. His scull I made into a totem and his elfbone crown adorned my king.

I'm back, and Urist is every bit as injured as before. I haven't got the infection message again yet, but it can't be far off.

If you ever, EVER ██████████████████████, be sure you have your shit together (a well or two, sizable food and alcohol stockpiles, masterpiece dining-rooms/fully engraved fortresses) and ABOVE ALL, SOME VERY SKILLED DOCTORS AND A REASONABLE SIZED HOSPITAL. Man... One time playing adventurer mode.

I was slaughtering elf villages like any good dorf would do. Now I was super tough and such, but I made the mistake of getting surrounded. There was a peasant with considerably grabby hands. While none of their wooden weapons could do anything to my plate armor, that one grabby peasant was annoying in that it could occasionally tackle me. Well I'm hacking my way through stacks of them and get a bit winded. At this point I've killed 20 odd of them. I accidentally dodge off a small cliff. It knocks me unconscious. The elf immediately jumps on top of me and starts strangling me. I never regain consciousness

It takes that elf an entire fucking season to strangle me. I thought I was going to die of thirst before I was successfully strangled.

There was another time I face off against a coal monster (forgotten creature).

I fought it for nearly a straight year. With my mighty steel battle axe I removed its feet, arms and tail (it was like a lizard) and critically damaged all it's other parts. However, since the thing could not bleed out and I for some reason couldn't chop off its head, I couldn't kill it. So I dueled with it for ages as it boiling smoke clouds enveloped us both. After ages of fighting and receiving a few bruises, I decide to leave before things get worse. So I travel a world square away and decide to sleep off its effects and heal up.

So I sleep. And throw up in my sleep. And stay asleep. And throw up some more. I stayed asleep for what seemed like a half year, vomiting uncontrollably every morning midday and night. I finally die of thirst, assumedly from vomiting out the entire contents of my body and flooding the world.
