I'd heard stories about players getting in actual fights over their games but I thought I'd never see it. Tonight it happened and it was amazing.

I'll call the three players "Player 0", "Player 1", and "Player 2." I'm going with Player 0 because his character started the argument but he's not involved at all past that.

Player 0 is playing a Monk/Cleric and recently got his holy symbol tattooed on his hand to "express that [his] body is a weapon of his god." I personally thought it was pretty neat, and the DM let him do it for the price of getting a piece of armor "Sanctified" which allows armor to be used as a holy symbol.

Then Player 1 decides out of nowhere that it's time to say "Man, that's really fucking gay." Player 2, as if slapped with words, nearly instantly says "What's your problem shit-sticker? It's not your character, your idea, or your problem." Player 1 responds "That shit is like fat white chicks who bitch all day about tattoos being evil, unless it's a cross. Totally retarded." Player 2 seemed prepared for this and said "If they were taking it serious I don't see a problem at all with someone making a sacrifice to honor their god." Apparently Player 1 was touched by someone with a religious tattoo because he wasn't giving it up and says "Anyone with a religious tattoo is a hypocrite and loves dick."

It was then that we learned that Player 2 has Mjolnir tattooed on his hand in clear UV responsive ink and a mini black light on his keychain. This is where it suddenly gets important that Player 1 is about 5'10" and 140 pounds and Player 2 is 6'2" and 240.
Player 2 shows him the Mjolnir using the blacklight and told us that why he doesn't actually believe Thor or any of the other AEsir are real he sticks with the religion's spirit and in respect to his Faroese ancestors. Player 1, apparently not able to see a quality ass kicking in his future, says "You're just gaying it up even further. Got any more imaginary friends?" Player 2 has clearly heard this before and just says "What happened in your childhood that makes you so angry about religion that you just have to spit on everyone's instead of just letting it go?" Player 1 then makes the absolute genius move of responding to the word "spit" by actually spitting on Player 2. He hocked up a good one and launched it strait on his face.

Sweet Jesus Player 2 beat the shit out of that guy. It was a home brewed, properly aged ass beating. He hit him twice and backed off and said something about losing his temper and that he was sorry for fighting in the DMs house when Player 1 decided to hit him with his chair. Player 2 whipped around like a bear that got poked by a stick and punched that guy into pudding. He had him on the ground in one hit, but he punched his head against the floor like a hammer on an anvil a few times and stomped on his chest until he felt better. That guy looked like the wrong end of a babboon when he was done.

    Thor would have been proud.

In many places the Bible does say almost exactly that. You can't quantify infinity, why bother trying.

Oddly enough... I'm a christian, but I still take issue with what most christians believe and how they get to those conclusions. I call them denotative literalists; the same people who think women shouldn't vote, god hates gay people and feel like any kind of sex before marriage is a direct path to hell.

Player 2, on the other hand, is around 6'2" and 240 pounds. He lifted weights a lot in high school, played football for something to do [remember, southern Indiana], and from there dresses like a typical metal head. He's usually in a band shirt, jeans, Matterhorn boots, and he's got elbow length gnarly blond hair.

Watching Player 1 pick a fight with Player 2 was like watching a little kid trying to get a pillow fight going with a bear.

Each player involved in this game, aside from the Cleric, is an emotionally unstable tart.
The Cleric was going along with the flavor of the game--a world in which deities do exist and grant power to the Cleric.

P1 should have obviously realized this.
P2 should have said so, rather than making it personal.

I will note that I'm dubious as to whether this actually happened, or there was a bit of samefag storytelling here.
As a side note, religious tattoos in a world where deities do not have a material effect are somewhat silly:

You should have calmly explained that in the game world, the Cleric's deity exists and responds to religious symbols.
By using yourself as a personal example of ostensibly 'someone with a religious tattoo who is not gay,' you drew yourself in unnecessarily.

This is not to say that Player 1 is faultless-- he went on a rant without evidence at a somewhat inappropriate moment.

Me showing him my tattoo was after about 30 minutes of him bitching and refusing to drop the subject. Player 1 is an aspie faggot who deserves to be kicked out of your group.

Player 2, is the Mjolnir tattoo actually on your hand? If so, that's pretty hilarious considering the whole thing started with Player 1 bitching about a monk getting a holy symbol tattooed on his hand to sanctify his weapon.

It's a very small outline in between the knuckles on my middle finger done in clear UV ink. When it doesn't have a blacklight on it you can see a little bit of a scarring from the needle but that's it. Then it glows a light blue under a black light.

Not much. Very geeky, even within the fandom to get it inked. Outside the fandom, could be seen as a Nazi.
If you get it inked and then say you BELIEVE IN TEH EMPERLORD then you're a colossal faggot.

Mmm. Then as a tip: If someone has a severe emotional disturbance regarding something, it is best not to make yourself a target of it-- in this case, it is likely that nothing you could have said would have calmed him.
Recognize that, and support the DM's decision, whose authority it is to quiet or eject unruly players.

Unless a game-breaking event would result, Player 1 had no real reason to be so upset.

But they're not. I think the "It may be mistaken for a nazi symbol" is a hypocritical cowardly excuse for not getting an Aquila tattoo, though.

The thing I find hilarious about this is the fact he's trying to force his own militant atheist views not only onto other people, but onto fictional characters in a setting where the gods do actually exist and the symbol has genuine power.

It's these militant atheists, and unfortunately the site is full of them, that give the rest of us a bad name.

I'm an atheist but I don't try to force my views on others, don't mind if others are religious, and I don't think they're stupid for being religious either. Some of the most inteligent people I know are moderately fundamental Christians.

These atheists that go around calling others stupid for beleiving in a religion and trying to force their atheists beleifs on others are just as bad as the religious extremists who try to force their religious beleifs on others.

Deciding against getting inked with something that could single you out as a supporter of Hitler, even if only to "the unwashed masses" (read, most people) is sensible. It's putting logic before being a fanboy.

When deciding on something to wear publically forever, you take into account how people will percieves you.
The vast majority of people know shit about the Nazis.
The vast majority of people don't care about Roman symbology.
And if you piss someone off who thinks it's a Nazi symbol, they won't give you chance to explain it's historical relevance.

Tldr? People are stupid cunts, sigh away, but don't deny that.
