... the fuck?
>>>/a/45702396Trying this shit again. Seemed to me like a perfect match with all the paranoia of the setting. But how does one fit in the Angelic shit with the atheist-dialectical materialist backdrop, or does one play up the divide?
Giant Progressive-shovel throwing Spetsnaz Evas everywhere.Hundred mile deep defensive lines that make Tokyo-3's defenses look like babby's first defensive lines.
Don't steel my ideas. I'll get around to finding players for Top Gun Eva eventually.
>>13820203Sorry, Soviet Top Gun Eva. Gonna battle the Americans on aircraft carriers then kick some angel ass.
>>13820197>Progressive Spetznatz shovelmy face
>>13820193There's so many ways to go with this. Play up the communist aspect; the EVA program is the result of combined labor. Describe dozens of workers handling each part of the prep process, and throw in dogmatic speeches about the will of the People being stronger than the will of God.Give the human defense troops a slightly bigger part, up to and including a standard entrenched position being stomped by an Angel... after one hell of a fight. Also, someone (maybe the Gendo equivalent) should be grappling with the problem of communist unification being no different from the whole God-amalgam thing.

>>13820130Do you just mean the Soviet Union never collapsed, or never changed at all? No perestroika or glasnost?
>>13820228>Also, someone (maybe the Gendo equivalent) should be grappling with the problem of communist unification being no different from the whole God-amalgam thing.I like this. SEELE might even just be the Politiburo, wanting to solve all the problems of capitalist inequality by going a step further and eliminating individuality in its entirety.
Not to derail the thread but...Anyone try Warhammer Evangelion? Was talking to my GF about doing that with each Eva being blessed by a different chaos god and spontaneously mutating in combat.
>>13820271I guess I was thinking that Second Impact happened sometime before 1991.

>>13820263Would the Political Officer be Fuyutsuki's position?
>>13820289Shinji - Despair - NurgleKaworu - androgynous - Slaanesh
I'm picturing early gen evas using parts and armor from recycled soviet equipment, like armor made completely out of T-34 hulls.

>>13820304Rei - inverse Emperor, dead on the inside.
>>13820295Google up Thousand Shinji.
>>13820271I was going to do something like Kosygin getting to power instead of Brezhnev and some pretty big economic reforms being implemented, including heavier investment in computer technology.
>>13820300Fuyutski seemed more subordinate to Gendo. Political officer would be someone looking over his shoulder - not technically a superior, but someone who represents the Party and therefor someone whose cooperation is needed (or whose attention must be circumvented) to get anything done.
>>13820276There's two fanfictions based on that supposedly.
>>13820313Gendo-Tzeentch
>>13820324OP here, good to see somebody's taking this idea and running with it.A thought: Perhaps Second Impact set off the long-awaited nuclear holocaust, and the West collapsed while Russian stoicism pushed them through and let them rebuild as a trans/postnational communist state enveloping most of Europe and Asia? Emphasizes the whole Russia strong thing, and allows for UN forces in the setting to be replaced entirely with communist ones. Also, with the memory of the Great Patriotic War in mind, would Asuka be seen differently, I'm wondering?
>>13820326So.... Kaji would be their political commissar?
"I'm telling you, this Evangelion pilot is trying to defect!"Actually, what the hell could stop an EVA pilot who wanted to defect?
>>13820361Or maybe China and the West fucked each other over hard early on and that's what let the Soviets survive.

>>13820364>battery life>limited supplies>giant support network
Can I has EVA 1942? The Manhattan Project is codename for America's Instrumentality program, but Hitler has the original Lance of Longinus and the nazis are building their own Eva series. The only problem is alt-history campaigns are notoriously hard to do.
>>13820364They'd have to live in America.
>>13820364Unplugging his umbilical cable? Sicking the others on him?
>>13820361As somebody whose grandfather was involved in the German military during the cold war let me tell you, there would have been very, very, very little left of Europe. At least between the wester border of France and Poland. The NATO strategy was more or less to delay the Russian advance so they could throw tactical nukes at them without damaging too many of their own forces. There was no plan to capture anything east of Warsaw.
>>13820389Hard? LOLno, they are fun.Raping history is easy because you take what you know and just ad lib whatever works.
>>13820389The stereotypical mid-century American WE CAN DO IT image is somewhat shattered by agnsty teens and oedipal complexes."Geezus, Shinji, tie yer fucking laces!" "BAAAAAAAAAAAWWW"
>>13820361I don't actually have any players, it's just an idea I had floating around. Either the Soviet Top Gun thing or detente Evangelion where there's mutual co-operation but distrust and the players and missions officer or whatever it's called have to travel around the world fighting angels while being careful not to provoke nuclear war.
>>13820405Recall that most American soldiers in WWII weren't that much older than EVA pilots.Average age across the board was 18 iirc.
>>13820402Yeah, maybe the US and China mutual suicide version is the way to go. The Russian stoicism just comes into play regarding the nuclear winter (which is really just a normal Russian winter with more radiation).
>>13820389I am now imagining Wernher von Braun as Gendo Ikari.>Thisissurprisinglyneat.jpg"So, guys, okay, listen, guys. What if. What if we took the Eva, guys. What if we took the Eva and p-put rockets on it? Yeah."

>>13820402This is the sort of Soviet fantasy which has them overrunning everything from Berlin to Portugal before the fat Amerikkkans can even find their asses.
>>13820431>>13820387I get all this. I just keep thinking of the end of Rebuild 2. When you want something badly enough you can turn your EVA into a literal wish-granting machine.
>>13820307This. If the angels damage an EVA, they don;t wait for it to heal; just add another layer of oversized hydraulics and appliqué armour. After a few fights, the streamlined EVAs just become massive walking lumps of armour plate. How very USSR
>>13820414Somehow, I don't think Shinji's issues would have been tolerated by your stereotypical squad leader/former dockworker from NYC.That said, there's a world of difference between 14 and 18, maturity wise (even if there's still a long way to go.)
>>13820435You know it. 'Couse, the German EVA falls apart regularly and needs constant maintenance, but when it works...
>>13820405This is hilarious to imagine."I didn't come all the way from Neo-Tokyo 3 just to move sandbags."
>>13820466Whatever one can say about it, CoH had superb voice acting.
>>13820408And the head of SEELE is Henry Kissinger?
>>13820502No, he's Kaworu
>>13820431>A switch that mixes the entry plug LCL with acidMix LCL with LSD? As if the pilots needed to be MORE fucked up.
>>13820462Whereas the Americans ones are. uh, well, but they're easy to maintain and there's like 200 of them swarming each Angel and the battle looks like Bob Sapp fending off hundreds of midgets with switch blades.
>>13820443Well, you just gotta switch on the acid bath before that happens. That might be hard though with the whole "Unit X is berserking and it's not responding to signals from mission control!" problem. So you might have something that switches on the acid in the event of ANY berserking or LoS with control, which would lend itself to a very soviet policy of issuing an eva to one pilot and having 12 waiting in the wings to wash him out of the plug with a hose. OOO! A switch that turns the entry plug into a microwave! That's good too.
>>13820526That's a tough one though, since half the time berserking seems pretty integral to beating the Angels. Can't go melting the pilot every time there's a tougher-than-average fight.
>>13820543This is the soviet union, yes they can.
>>13820543Not to mention, how exactly do you trigger it while it's berserking?
The LCL is 80 proof, having been mixed with Russia's most readily available vodka.
>>13820511I'm trying to think of a situation where adding hallucinogens to LCL would be a good idea. I can see something like PCP getting shoveled in in some strange kind of berserking stimulant, but the last thing you probably want in an eva tripping out. Then again, chemically expanding your consciousness might be the only way to get to some of the more far out AT field effects. >far out AT field effectsDammit. Now I want the dude as my operations director.
>>13820586Sounds like 70s era CIA stuff.
>>13820560And given how tough it is to find someone who is even capable of piloting, I don't think the kids are a resource that even the worst eras of Soviet government would waste. More likely they would try to head off defection by providing the highest quality of life they can for the pilots and appealing to their sense of duty to keep them fighting through the pain and insanity.
>>13820562Berserk comes somewhat more easily, shooting takes a bit more skill, fear effects are one step less than they would be otherwise. I can work with that.
>>13820592But then you have the dichotomy of the pilots' luxury and their (potential) sympathy with the workers/conflict with other pilots taking the upper-class treatment in stride.
>>13820627It's not perfect, but until the Dummy Plug is up and running its the best we can do.
>>13820627It would be complicated, but successful pilots are probably their rarest resource.
>>13820590>Sounds like 70s era CIA stuff.>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKULTRA>The published evidence indicates that Project MKULTRA involved the use of many methodologies to manipulate individual mental states and alter brain functions, including the surreptitious administration of drugs and other chemicals, sensory deprivation, isolation, and verbal and sexual abuse.Golden! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a game!
>>13820627And that's what we call story. Also, "They're/we're Heroes of the Soviet Union, they/we deserve it".
>>13820466"ENEMY INFANTRY TRYING TO CRACK OUR EVA'S ARMOR...GOOD LUCK">>13820641Well, the problem with that is the game would become more of a head trip than anything else...To really attain that MKULTRA feel, you'd need to make the players doubt that they're actually fighting angels, wonder if they're just in some room getting mind fucked, or if the fighting against the angels is the real thing, and they're just hallucinating the breaks in the combat.I'm more of a fan of Soviet EVA myself, since it doesn't OD the player on mindfuckery, and I've always appreciated the concept of the USSR. Too bad I don't know anything about the Soviet Union in reality.
I think it's been brought up before, but what if this was the alternate space race? The Soviets get early breakthroughs in EVA research, launch the "Sputnik" model which does basically nothing but walk and beep, the Americans get scared... And then you have Kennedy giving a speech about giant unstoppable war machines while NRCA is cleaning the last pilot candidate out of a poorly-made capsule with a mop.
>>13820368See, now I'm mixing Fallout and Ad Eva. Liberty Prime is now an Evangelion, for example.
>>13820436Actually, this was NATO's plan. The Soviets renounced the first strike doctrine because they had fewer nukes and knew they'd lose in that case. The Americans, meanwhile, knew they had fewer men on the ground (women too, which was part of why the conventional weapons gap favoured the Soviets) and would lose in a conventional war, so they decided the best plan was nuking the Soviet forces if they tried to invade.
But of course mister President. If we enter the Earth about 20 kilometers down into the Earth, in an airtight bunker, we won't join the Communist Instrumentality.Of course, MEIN FURH- mister President, to repopulate Earth after the Instrumentality we need the necessities of life... most important women to procreate...
>>13820436Given that a Soviet invasion force would have out numbered the American's stationed in Europe by 10-1 or more, it wasn't really a fantasy.
>>13820641You know what's even crazier?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Dormouse>Operation Dormouse was a covert operation launched in 1975 by the CIA to divert attention from Project Artichoke.[1] Operation Dormouse was to divert attention from Project Artichoke and direct it to the infamous Project MKULTRA.MKULTRA was actually the more limited and saner part of what the CIA was doing at that time.
>>13820402>>13820436>>13820713Also realise that by a few months of fighting conventional wars, the Warsaw Pact and the NATO would have totally exhausted their armies. It would be World War I all over again, except this time, the frontline would shift all crazy random around the air, land and sea.It would be a massacre like we've never even seen. And after that, it's like a day or what until the nukes start flying.
>>138206932001 has a really cool representation of the near future where the Soviets and Americans both have space tourism and space weapons. It's also one of the big inspirations for Evangelion. >>13820449I still don't get where this perception that the USSR was constantly fielding all these hulking behemoth tanks and AFVs that just made the Koeng Tiger look like child's play. The Soviets did a few heavy tanks in early-Cold War and came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it and they were better off with significantly lighter MBTs.
>>13820856>"Can we get control of an individual to the point where he will do our bidding against his will and even against fundamental laws of nature, such as self-preservation?"I thought this was the point of basic training.
>>13820876If anything France were the HEUG, lumbering tank fetishists of ww2. It worked out pretty well for them, I heard.
>>13820856Sadly, there's nothing on it because the CIA had the good sense to destroy all the information, while they managed to miss 20,000 pages on MKULTRA thanks to a clerical error (I think).
>>13820130Russian Eva is twice as heavy as standard models, cost one third as much to make, has Vodka instead of LCL, and the national anthem is constantly played in the entry plug. In the experiments, Army bio-warfare researchers released millions of uninfected mosquitoes on the two towns, in order to see if the insects could potentially spread yellow fever and dengue fever. Hundreds of residents contracted a wide array of illnesses, including fevers, respiratory problems, stillbirths, encephalitis, and typhoid. Army researchers pretended to be public health workers, so that they could photograph and perform medical tests on the victims. Several people died as a result of the experiments.>From 1946 to 1953, at the Walter E. Fernald State School in Massachusetts, in an experiment sponsored by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission and the Quaker Oats corporation, 73 mentally disabled children were fed oatmeal containing radioactive calcium and other radioisotopes, in order to track "how nutrients were digested". The children were not told that they were being fed radioactive chemicals and were told by hospital staff and researchers that they were joining a "science club".
>>13820942Arguably, half the reason the french army were so inflexible and slow to react was because their armor traveled too slowly to counter the Blitz and took hours to load onto trains.
I had a similar idea for a setting where walking tanks/crude organic mecha were deployed by the Russians in Afghanistan, allowing them to conquer the country and eventually most of the middle east. Cue 2026 and the organic mecha have become miniature EVAs on crack, the air is clogged with radioactive dust, and the cold war is almost at a boiling point. >>13821081Let's talk about a little psychopath called Stalin and his crimes against humanity, shall we?
>>13821031Well, the stereotype comes to us from Rocky IV (Or was it Rocky III? Whatever) that Russians are inherently larger and tougher than normal folks.Ignoring armor design principles, Evangelions are meant to be people, except bigger. Well, 'people', in that they're horrific Freudian abominations that may or may not be people's moms, but I digress. The Russian stereotype has always been "Tougher than Thou." How do you get across that kind of no nonsense, winter surviving, liver hardening, backflipping hatchet throwing character into the EVAs? Naturally, the first stereotype I think of is "ARMORED BRICKS THAT ARE TOUGH AND UGLY," but maybe you have a better idea. I'd be all ears. Or, eyes in this case I suppose.
>>13821157Simple.Larger EVAs.Why think hard when you think easy? Is easy.

>>13821157Maybe you're right in terms about the RUgelions being bigger than their NATO brethren to reflect on the actual Russian and Slavic populace that's close to them. But when I think of Evangelions themselves, I see them mostly reflecting on the nation's style of armored warfare and what not.It could go either way, I guess. If you're going off very early Cold War Soviet stuff, you could split the Russian Evangelions between the light T-54/55 and the heavier T-10/IS-7.Evangelion based on the IS-7, I'd actually like to see that. Remote-controlled guns that are strategically put on the Evangelion's armor.

>>13821214Confirmed for 15-year old.
>>13821145200,000 people were killed in the Guatemalan Civil War, while 50,000 were disappeared. The population of Guatemala in 1990 was 8 million. The population of the Soviet Union under Stalin was 150 million. 150 million divided by 8 million equals 18.75. 250,000 times 18.75 equals 4,867,500. Stalin is usually accused of killing between 3 and 20 million people, though the latter figures are vast and are generally gained by taking the growth rate of the Soviet Union before he came to power, calculating how many people should have been in the Soviet Union and then subtracting the actual 1939 population from that number and calling everybody not there a person that Stalin killed. Doing the same thing for America produces 10 million deaths caused by Roosevelt, meaning that that math is pretty fucking stupid.

>>13821212Not a bad idea I suppose. Maybe make it more rounded? Just the first thing I noticed in the T-80/M1 Abrams comparison. The Evangelions in the original show were very angular, all elbows and knees. Maybe RUgelions would be more rounded, so that rounds would glance off more. And what you mentioned about the cannons was interesting too. Though I wouldn't go so far as to eliminate the hands and separate weapons (Clearly inefficient with even the slightest consideration, but it's what makes an EVA an EVA instead of a amazingly poorly designed tank), they should definitely have built in weapons. Layers upon layers of reactive armor that'll spray a blizzard of red hot razor sharp metal, inset turrets to spray flame, a pilot mannable machine gun on the cockpit door in case the worst comes to the worst... Maybe have them more squat- still with long limbs for optimum maneuverability, but with the neck set in and the body hunched over to present less of a target?
>>13821269Old enough to pilot an Eva, issue subject on plugsuit and shove in >>13821197
>>13821387So, like this except with arms instead of guns?
>>13821410Basically, yeah, though less dischead, more sunken bump at the top of the body. That might be an interesting theme of Soviet EVAs, the increasing problems with sync and pilot rejection as their machines get modified into less and less of a human form for better combat performance.
>>13821387Kinda hard to try and make the already lithe Evas even more lithe. I'd say that the RU/USSR Evas would have a very utilitarian/martial look to them and not necessarily be rounded in their armor like the IS-3 or a lot of the turrets sported by many of the Cold War-era tanks.

>>13821596If that were the case, then Russia wouldn't have been able to contribute the Kirovs to the UN.That, and I think those were T-90s chasing the escaping Angel in 2.22.
>>13821652...indeed.
Eva 1 - The Soviet SupremeDraws its power on the collective willpower of the soviet people. Mad ex nazi scientists and even madder soviet ones managed to find a way to provide full combat mobility at the cost of pilot sanity in trying to contain all those minds.
>>13821757Estimated maximum mission time: 13 minutes. Comes with 6-section Plug Changer to extend endurance.WARNING: Due to extremely wasteful operation, this Unit is to be used only in the most dire of circumstances.
Asuka is actually the one the Party always puts forward as the public face of the EVA pilots. Sure, Shinji is technically has more kills on his record and Rei actually embodies the socialist ideal more fully, but neither of them are particularly impressive at first glance, Shinji being weak and shy and Rei being, well just all kinds of creepy. Asuka on the other hand is healthy, beautiful and high-spirited. So they put her in a glorious red Evangelion and prop her up as everything a young woman of the motherland should be.Of course, when the cameras are off, she's an anti-authoritarian, disrespectful nightmare. But with NERV's Political Officer breathing down her neck she knows better than to go too far, especially when people can see her.
>>13821757That actually sounds like an interesting replacement for the whole "it's your mom" thing, if it was classified, especially for players who know Eva inside and out.
Actaully, Instrumentality does sound like a very soviet scheme. >All division of class and gender and personalty will fall, and at last Great Lenin's vision will be achieved. All men will at least be equal. >Rise up, Comrades! Throw off the shackles of your persona and tear down the walls of ego that would make you a slave! WE SHALL BE AS ONE!
"I don't give a damn about the Party! Or the People! But Ayanami... I WILL SAVE HER!"
>>13821990Brace for (Third) impact.
>>13822027Third Impact always calls for HAPPY MUSIC! Well, at least a sad song with an upbeat style.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxXkZzJUDh4Instrumentality would be great, just like communism, if people weren't human. But, we are.
>>13822150>if people weren't humanThis. So fucking hard, this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNl7u_ckbHURelated enough that I need to post it. Screw flying you to the moon.
>>13821821That could contribute to her breakdown; as Shinji slowly becomes more confident, the spotlight starts to inch towards him, causing her to fixate on the idea of "evening the score" by trying for a solo kill or three.(Which of course is all a projection of internal defenses going WHOOP WHOOP EMERGENCY as the thought that she sorta likes this kid sinks into her brain.)
[I have made a write]“The People's Information Service apologizes for the inconvenience. This is a recorded message. All wired transmission systems are currently in use-”Shinji set the phone down with an audible click. It was cold. Too cold.“I hope she gets here soon...” he mumbled, slipping a gloved hand into the breast pocket of his heavy coat. There he'd stashed the picture – her picture. Stamped with the official hammer and sickle, covered with oddly scrawled Cyrillic letters in what the boy suspected was a mix of charcoal and blood. She was leaning down, smiling, exposing the... formidable assets that stretched her thin tank-top to breaking. Behind her were some rather foreboding storm clouds, and the falling snow had covered her skin with a beautiful sheen as it melted. The only readable scrap of her writing advised him to be at this exact place at a time that passed eighteen minutes ago.
>>13822358Shinji sighed again, pulling his hood back down. He moved the sleeve of his coat a tiny bit to see his watch, immediately regretting it when the freezing wind wrapped around his wrist. If Japan was cursed with an endless summer, this city must have fallen back into an ice age. A bit strange, considering how close the two were. But any climate-related thoughts soon passed, as Shinji's ears were assaulted by the boom of distant artillery. The power lines shook with the ground. He opened his eyes, and saw an angel. A pale girl in a school uniform, standing just up the road, staring at him. The snow passed through her. Another blast almost made the boy lose his balance, and then- in a blink, she was gone. A barrage of rockets passed overhead, swinging around an outlying building, control wires spooling out behind them. They detonated seconds later, finding a target that was slowly, surely moving closer. A flight of VTOLs came next. Mi-60s, carrying heavy payloads, blowing the snow off of roofs and window-panes as they passed by. They flew up and over, engines swiveling to hover as they fanned out, loosing a flurry of explosive rounds on the impenetrable shield of the approaching Enemy of the People. Shinji took cover beside the phone booth, covering his ears as the upright monster stomped into the tiny village.
>>13822363Missiles began to fall like rain. Bullets spattered off the glowing orange shield as the monster lashed out, grabbing one of the circling VTOLs out of the sky and crushing it like a toy. A bomber squadron high above dropped its cluster bombs, showering the beast and the surrounding area with high-explosives. It continued to move, unstoppable, unfazed, wading through fire like a walking battleship. Shinji looked up, briefly, and prayed for his life. The rumble of a heavy diesel engine snapped him out of his despair. An APC came barreling out of a side street, tire-studs digging into the pavement, shrapnel spattering off armor plates. It tore through several hundred feet of curb, motor growling like a dragon, before coming to rest just beside the phone booth. Then the top hatch flew open, and Shinji's savior lifted herself out of the cab, grinning like a maniac.“Miss me?” she laughed, waving a rather large mug at the petrified boy. An incredibly large explosion bloomed just behind the vehicle, breaking every window in the immediate vicinity and moving her hair slightly. Somehow, she managed to lean all the way over, one foot hooked into the hatch-ring, grab Shinji with one arm, and retreat back inside like a startled turtle snapping into its shell.
>>13822367“We go now,” she said, setting the boy on her lap as the hatch slammed down, trapping them both in the armored coffin. With one swift movement, she shifted into reverse, spun the heavy machine around, and sped off down the same street she'd come out of, narrowly avoiding being horribly crushed beneath the foot of the Enemy.“You are Comrade Shinji, yes?” the woman asked, one arm wrapped around the boy and the other on the wheel. At his terrified nod, she continued, stating, “I am Milena. Welcome to Vladivostok-3!”But Comrade Shinji did not feel welcome. He did not feel welcome at all.
>>13822334Only made worse by the fact that, as Shinji becomes more socially acceptable, the propaganda office insists on creating the impression that they are in love because it makes for good pictures.

>>13822713Suddenly, the end of Evangelion is INCREDIBLY AWESOME
So, is Japan just another satellite state of the USSR's?
Holy shit, this is on topic. Then again I should know by now that every Eva art idea has been done before.
>>13822730Partitioned. Some of it is Soviet, some of it is under China's control, and parts of it belong to the United States. Pretty much like Germany.
>>13822730I'd have a few states retain some degree of independence (say, Japan, India, Brazil)... but I can't see them escaping more subtle Russian influence, assuming the Chinese and the West aren't part of the equation anymore. Japan doesn't have enough natural resources to go solo, Brazil would be ripe for a leftist takeover, given the conditions of 1980s Brazil, and India was already kind of in bed with the Soviets so they probably wouldn't really be fucked with.
>>13822713always right
If Shinji's Japanese, I suppose Gendo is too? We really should get settled on what exactly the cast would look like, and which would be transplanted Japs and which rooskies.
>>13823079I don't know, I'd think they'd want a Russian in Gendo's position. Maybe Shinji's half? And I'm not sure Rei's ethnicity is meaningful considering she's half alien and grown in a test tube. She's most likely culturally Russian.

I wonder what Russians think of commie fetishizing. It's gotta be weird when foreigners say "HAHA THAT WACKY USSR LET'S HAVE A GAME SET THERE 'IN SOVIET RUSSIA' ELL OH ELL"That aside, this concept mite b cool. Though you'd need a severe shift in themes and events to prevent this from being "X with fuzzy hats and 'People's' in front of everything."
>>13823639What about the reverse? I wonder if any Russians have a hard-on for the Western Allies. Imagine a large, bearded Ruskie trying to imitate a British accent and rambling on about the Blitz.
Did not turn out nearly as obviously communistic as planned, but what can you do when you sketch by hand and use an old cellphone to take the pic.If only i had a real scanner (and a photoshop that didnt freeze every two brush strokes) you might have had some detail on this thing. But we'll just settle for angry unidentified EVA.

>>13825001Nobody uses katana for real in America. They mix it with titanium or other shit, they don't have proper honor with it, they don't commit seppuku when they lose. And American boddy-pillow is a travesty.
>>13824967>>13824978What those comrades said. It is an incredibly amusing simplification of an incredibly complex issue.Still, the idea of Soviet Evangelion Ad Eva campaign interests me a lot. >>13825063I ran a Soviet Ghost in the Shell campaign where the characters were cyborg spies and warriors headhunted from the KGB, GRU etc and put together into a special section tasked with investigating the other agencies. The first mission had them infiltrating a factory making spider tanks where parts had been siphoned off to a secret group assembling an army, and interrogating a worker that was drinking on the job and mistook them for safety inspectors. They also solved a hostage crisis in the American embassy in Moscow by shooting every terrorist in a syncronized assault and disappearing in a Hind before the enhanced, cyborg Marines could make their way up the roof.

>>13826643Homefront?In said universe, North Korea is only really able to pose a threat due to it's annexation of Pacific Asia.

>>13826769UN is too slow, too big, also Russia, China and the USA using it as arse wiping paper. They do a lot of good though in the Third World during crises. Just don't expect them to tell China, Russia or the USA to fuck off when they're doing shit without legitimate reasons.
>>13826782The UN does its job perfectly well. It's just that the UN's job is to make sure nothing that pisses the US, Russia or China off too much ever happens, thereby preventing the extinction of Homo Sapiens. The UN's job is to prevent World War 3 between nuclear powers. So far, it has a perfect track record.
>>13826782Any predictions for the future?
Detente Evangelion"I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world." - Ronald ReaganUnder cover of the 15th Soviet Antarctic Expedition, Second Impact occurs in 1970. The major world powers quickly join together to form Seele, Gehirn and Nerv in an uneasy peace. The actual game takes place in 1985. The players should make international characters, including at least one from both America and the Soviet Union. The angels should attack all around the world, especially in places where international incidents might be provoked, like nuclear facilities or heavily populated cities. The DM should give the players challenges that involve avoiding major diplomatic problems between nations, like, say, the Soviet pilot accidentally obliterating the White House. If they fail, there's war between the two superpowers, with everybody involved (at this time, China and Pakistan are American clients, while India is a Soviet client). Throw in some historical figures too, like have a public relations event where the pilots have to shake hands with Gorbachev and Reagan. If war manages to be successfully avoided, you can throw it in after all the angels have been defeated and see who wins then.
>>13824967>>13824978from my experiance in the US russaboos are little more aware that what they are liking is a fictional idea/propoganda than weaboos.also most russaboos are either semi-ironic in their glorying Russia or just like the aesthetic, while weaboos are typically completely serious about their love for all things japanesse

It's too much!""What if I ask you in the name of the People?", says the commissar, pointing a gun to the kid's head. The kid just whimpers.Blam! The commissar looks Giennedyi in the eye. "Tell comrade Stalin to mobilize the Red Army. A child should not do man's work."
>>13827881Ok, don't get IRL political officers confused with 40k's Commissars, tempting as it is.
And then that fucking Angel gets a taste of land war in Russia, is somehow captured and a year later made a loyal member of the communist party. All thanks to a young KGB officer Vladimir Putin, who gets an Order of Lenin and a new Lada car.
>>13827881The executions took place on the FIELD, not during the briefing.A poison gas system inside the pilot pod thing that I forgot the name of with a remote for the political officer would be a lot more logic."He's too strong! I can't fight him... take me back to the base!""Can't let you do that, Viktor! Fight the abomination! Or else I will be forced to release the gas!"
>>13828106Actually, just use a sleeping gas. That way, the EVA will enter the berserker mode.
>>13828063Hard to imagine just what an EVA or pilot might do if you had Putin's soul empowering the EVA unit.
>>13821031I was just humming along, reading the thread, when I saw this. I love tanks, and if I had tits I would let you put a tank cannon between them. Just... yes. This is to me what Tyranid dong is to DLFG.
>>13827896"The enemy has breached the seventh defensive line! Arrival at Tunguska Base... four minutes!"Giennedyi turned to the man beside him. The political officer was young and clearly had not been prepared for what he would see at Tunguska. He stared at the monstrosity on the screen in abject horror."Comrade Ivanov," Giennedyi said, snapping the man out of his trance. He pulled out the red key that hung on a chain underneath his uniform shirt and inserted it into its place on the console. The keyhole next to his stood empty. "The Angel will be here in minutes, Comrade. We must sortie Unit 01.""I... I have to... I have to consult with Moscow." the younger man stammered."There's no time! Moscow will support my decision, now get your key!"
>>13821821Honestly, Shinji would be the logical choice for the public face of the Evangelion pilots. In his desperation for love and acceptance, he works himself to the bone, on and off the battlefield, despite not really wanting to. He also has a shyness and aversion to publicity that makes it easy to spin the "HE'S FIGHTING NOT FOR GLORY, BUT FOR THE GOOD OF ALL MANKIND!" angle. Basically, he's a working class hero, and the fact that he wins all his fights is just gasoline on the fire of the propaganda machine. Asuka's desperate need for acceptance manifests as her becoming a child prodigy with a huge ego, which undermines her usefulness. Rei, despite her self-sacrificing nature, is a genetically engineered human, which makes her anathema to the party line, as most of genetics was during much of the Soviet era, because admitting that people are born with different capabilities and predispositions undermines the egalitarian ideals of the Party. With Shinji, meanwhile, they can have all the kiddies eating out of their hands with claims that they, too, might some day be Evangelion pilots.
Considering the general theme of Soviet engineering as being cheap, utilitarian, and simple, the Soviet Evas would probably have a very stripped down look compared to the Evas we know from the show. All that armor would have to go, for one thing -- it serves no practical purpose, as it would be about as effective as tissue paper against anything that can break through an AT field, anything that can't break through would never touch it, and it wastes massive amounts of money and materials that could be used for other projects. Thus, armor would be the bare minimum needed to make the Evas look presentable. The "New People" aspect suggested early on in the thread would never fly -- it stinks of eugenics and genetics, which are both anathema to the Soviet regime -- instead, the fact that they're basically copies of Angels would probably be publicised and played up as an example of Soviet Science copying and perfecting the imperfect weapons of the enemy to use against them.
>>13828644The problem with Shinji is that he's too likely to quit when things get too tough. For all his need for acceptance and tendency to push himself beyond the limit, he is still ultimately unreliable. Asuka may be in it for less outwardly noble reasons, but those can be hidden from the public who would then only see her never retreat, attack-attack-attack determination.
Just for the sake of it, I'm pretty sure these are T-80 tanks, sans some amount of the distinctive reactive armor blocks.
rolled 221, 698, 732, 120, 900, 338, 835, 322, 92, 201, 511, 528, 76, 793, 402, 637, 895, 16, 749, 194, 99, 497, 530, 949, 253 = 11588FUCK LAND I'M ON A BOAT MOTHERFUCKERFUCK TREES I CLIMB BUOYS MOTHERFUCKER
>>13828759Never retreat, attack-attack-attack isn't a good basis for Soviet propaganda. This isn't the Imperium, after all; they stopped fighting the Great Patriotic War in '45. What they need to instill patriotism is a Hero of the Proletariat, which is what they have in Shinji, who, despite all his whining and running away, is still easy enough to manipulate and push into doing whatever you need. Notably, Asuka is also a child prodigy, which while convenient for publicity early on in the project, lends her that "intrinsically better than you" quality that conflicts with Soviet dogma. Once Shinji is in the picture, he's going to be the one dead center on all the propaganda posters.
This thread made me trip balls, so it's good, yes.Although clearing a few points would be nice, to make all this russiabooism appear more closer to reality than to, say, Red Alert. Not saying RA is not nice, but...Still an awesome idea, this. Soviet Russian Evangelion, now as homebrewed by /tg/. Point me in the right direction so I can contribute. Also, >>13820991 ? You still here? I'm stealing that bit with organic mecha for my long-awaited althistory setting. Also, EVERYTHING military-related in the Eastern Block sucked balls. Just saying.
>>13828946>Also, EVERYTHING military-related in the Eastern Block sucked balls. Just saying.Already picking for a fight?
>All that armor would have to go, for one thing -- it serves no practical purpose, as it would be about as effective as tissue paper against anything that can break through an AT field, anything that can't break through would never touch it, and it wastes massive amounts of money and materials that could be used for other projects. Thus, armor would be the bare minimum needed to make the Evas look presentable. But the whole point of the armor was to restrict and subdue the Evas!
>>13830194I knew you'd say that. Point is, it's also completely fucking useless for that; any Eva that wants to go berserk is going to, and no amount of restraints, armor-shaped or otherwise, are going to stop that. No one working on the project, who would be expected to know what exactly they were dealing with, would think otherwise. What you would want to do instead would be to place remote-triggered explosives that would sever the Eva's spine at strategic locations in case it went out of control in an undesirable manner. Armor is expensive to maintain and repair, but Evas and Angels regenerate on their own so long as the core is in one piece, so a bit of catastrophic damage to the Eva's body will serve as cost-effective damage control for less readily regenerating things, like cities and teams of brilliant scientists.
>>13830767The armor is actually useful on its own, besides just keeping the EVA under control. Angels tend to explode when you kill them (classic series Angels, anyway.) When you're up in something's grill (i.e. your A.T. Fields are neutralized) and it explodes, you want those layers of armor to keep you from frying along with it.
>>13830810I call bullshit on the claim that the armor does anything against exploding Angles. There's no amount of armor in the world that would actually protect anything from that kind of explosion, short of coating the Eva in a small mountain of steel. "Small" here meaning "several dozen meters thick in all directions." That's simply impractical, so I'm just going to assume that the AT field isn't nearly as cancelled as you think it is. As supporting circumstantial evidence, I bring you the cases of Ramiel, whose weapon was confirmed as being powerful enough to just cut straight through an AT field without prior neutralization, and which melted the armor on Unit-01 to slag, and Zeruel, who cut through armor and AT field alike with equal impunity. Really, the only practical piece of armor we see in the series are in these two battles, where that plating over the core gives it a precious few seconds of survivability. All the other armor is purely decorative.
>>13830905Alright, we'll send you to war and not equip you with any protective gear what so ever. Seeing how simple IEDs and enough boolets can defeat any ballistic vests currently fielded.
>>13830905However in a similar scenario when Eva 01 was deployed against Ramiel for the first time and it's chest plate enough time to be recalled to the Geofront, this saved the unit and pilot. Also, dat Rei Shield.
>>13830905Don't get me wrong, the AT Field is the most important defense. But to say the armor is useless is going a little far. A: it does provide some defense against attacks when the AT Field is weakened or neutralized. B: barring some truly extraordinary circumstances, it restrains the EVA's power and keeps it under control. Also the argument about lowering the armor to "the bare minimum needed to make the thing presentable" ignores the fact that the current armor is basically there anyway. Remove any single piece and the true creature underneath immediately becomes apparent.
>>13830948Sure, sounds good to me. So long as I have my trusty force field, ability to regenerate lost limbs and organs in seconds, and flesh a hundred times tougher than rolled homogeneous steel, I'm set.
>>13831010Yeah.No.
>>13831002Well, yeah, the chest plate saves the day both against Ramiel and against Zeruel, but no other piece of armor seems to serve as anything except expensive canon-fodder for the Angels to reduce to a fine metallic mist at the drop of a hat. Shamshel and Gaghiel, two of the weakest Angels, punched right through the stomach armor without even trying. Zeruel ripped limbs and heads off practically at will. The options are either to coat the Eva in such an absurd amount of armor that its mobility advantage is completely eliminated, or just admit that most of the armor does nothing and get rid of it to cut the inevitable repair costs.>>13831009What's under there basically just looks like a cross between a man and a porpoise, which is pretty non-threatening, so why are we bothering to hide that?
>>13831081>basically just looks like a cross between a man and a porpoiseThat's with the restraints on. What's really underneath looks like Carnage fucked a T-Rex.
>>13831105Forgot pic.
>>13831064Oh, I'm sorry, were you functioning under the illusion that combat in Evas is anything remotely akin to modern infantry combat? As opposed to a magical fairytale battle between giants who shrug off nuclear weapons like water balloons and fire giant cross shaped lasers at each other?
>>13831081Think of possible environmental damage perhaps damaging the bare-bones Eva in the event of combat in a generally rugged area, I'd say that's a good enough reason to have it, as the AT field likely wouldn't be able to shit against it.Also, >Mobility CompromisedHaah.Waaw.>>13831105Giggled.
>>13831137Hey you're almost making it sound like this is a universe that obeys Rule of Cool. But that can't be, since you're advocating the removal of cool looking armor in the interest of realistic practicality.
>>13831127Oh, you're talking about webuild. I see.
>>13831081>What's under there basically just looks like a cross between a man and a porpoisecthuhlu just looks like a cross between a man and an octopus but he still causes sanity damage.
>>13831168Well then, let the pussies who are going to take SAN damage take it and remove themselves from the gene pool already. The GLORIOUS MOTHERLAND doesn't need their ilk anyways.
>>13831163I guess Unit 02's beast mode didn't look suspiciously similar to the EVA Series' normal modes to you, then?
>>13831155No, I'm advocating the removal of silly, japanese-looking armor in favour of Grim&Gritty Soviet "Efficiency" and cost-cutting.
>>13831209Cause god forbid the characters from this Japanese series look at all Japanese. That would be weeaboo.A Space Marine without his armor is just a big ugly guy. The armor is part of what makes him what he is. Same with Evas.
>>13831191Haven't watched webuild past the halfway point of 1.0; shit was a boring retread of old territory. I'll wait until all four movies are out before giving it another go.As for it looking like the MP Evas, that would make more sense if they were actually built off the basis of the same Seed of Life, which they aren't, 02 and 00 being based off Adam and 01 and the MP Evas off Lilith; but fuck if I know what's going on in NME.
>>13831209BANZI!
>>13831238We were specifically making a Soviet Eva setting. With Soviet Evas.Designed by Soviet Engineers.I was pushing for a more Soviet aesthetic, as opposed to lolevaswithhammersandsicklespaintedon.
>>13831262
>>13831262That model is in desperate need of a nail-bat conversion.
Honestly, as nice as it would be, I can't imagine the Soviet EVAs looking that much more different than their German, US, or Japanese counterparts. If only because it'd be like taking away the armor from 40k's Space Marines and trying to give them a hard-science look like Halo's Spartans. It just doesn't work out right. If anything, I'd just imagine the Soviet/Russian EVAs simply slightly block-ier shaped armor, more pronounced chest armor, and generous use of up-scaled ERA blocks. Somewhat a combination of the Super EVA and F-Type armor.
Don't mind us - just looking for more water.
Set the game in 1966. In 1966, Vladamir Putin was 14 years old.
>>13831383ffffff sorryVladimir, Not VLADAMIR (UGH)
>>13831395By god I think you're on to something.
>>13831317Holy shit!Is that some ICE PIRATES THERE?
>>13831314Ih. I think you're just too attached to the aesthetics, but whatever. Moving on now:Considering the Russian propensity towards lots of insane, specialized experimental weapons and superweapons, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume there would be all sorts of modified experimental models of Evas, with crazy modifications like wings, or Angelic tentacles/whips or ulnas that double as battering rams.
>>13831383>>13831415YES! THIS! SO VERY MUCH THIS!Also, DAT PHOTO! The sexiest man in the world and the (second) sexiest plane in the world, in one place? I CAN'T RESTRAIN THE RIVERS OF CUM THAT SPILL FROM MY LOINS.
>>13831383Also 14 in '66.For what it's worth.
>>13831456>IMPLYING THE MOTHERFUCKING PAK-FA ISN'T THE GREATEST LOOKING AIRCRAFT EVER CONCIEVEDHAHA CHAP WHAT DO YOU PROPOSE?Picture unrelated buy Sukhois look fantastic, I nearly creamed myself when I saw them in Rebuild.
>>13831490Obviously, the Su-37.The only thing sexier than Putin walking away from his personal PAK-FA would be Jason Statham hosing soap off an Su-37.In the nude. While Putin looks on from a lawn chair.Awwwww, yeah.
>>13831513I THINK YOU MEAN THE SU-47 MY MAN FUCK YEAH BERKUT ALL UP IN THIS.WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRR
>>13831533FWOOSH
>>13831513Couldn't be arsed to find an Su-37 in my collection, so here's a crappy photo of an Su-47 instead, showing off DAT ASS shamelessly.
>>13831554Oh.I thought you were referring to Berkut, but Terminators are lovely.
>>13831533>>13831540>>13831554How convenient, it seems that this has become a Berkut thread.Anyone have any hi-res Berkut pics?
>>13831570You'll like this one.
>>13831587That's the highest res I've ever fucking seen.
>>13831570Terminators have all the lovely curves of the Flanker sisters, and more.Have another one of them.
>>13831593>icanfaptothis.pcx
EVA units based on the Terminators? This pleases me.Also, the T-80's mono-eye reminds me of EVA Unit 00's own mono-eye.
>>13831685That's what I'm talking about.Embrace the Soviet aesthetic!...the late-Soviet, proto-kleptocratic-Russian aesthetic.
>>13831731We need curves. That's what the Eva needs.A healthy blend of blockiness and curves.
>>13831753>>13831754Whoa.
it's so wrong of me to want to feel up on the curvy thighs and hips on the Model B, but it would feel so right.
>>13831816>>13831753I think this can all be attributed to a fetish.
>>13831816HOLD THAT THOUGHT.
>>13832072Still wanna see some action between EvASSuka and Unit 01.
>>13832072Incoming SHAMELESS UPSKIRT ON A 40-METER-TALL BIKINI-ARMORED ASUKA coming as soon as I locateitohfuckicantbelieveididntnamethatfile.
>>13832162This one?
>>13832184>Master_Chief_looking_up_Asuka's_skirt.jpgDamn it, I'm starting to sexualise the EVAs now.
>>13832184Yep, that's the one. Seems I misremembered what exactly it looked like, but Master Chief is still inexplicably there, looking on impassively at the skyscraper legs.>>13832133That would be the hottest thing ever.
>>13832238Welcome to the dark side of the fandom; we've been waiting for you.
>>13832291The dog is out.Unit 01 and 02 for OTP.
>>13825001I just had borscht for the first time on Saturday night. Stuff is weird yo. It looks like it should be spicy (because it's red), but it's not. Also, no one told me the white stuff I was adding was sour cream and not whipped cream, so I added way too much.
>>13832465Never had it. So what does it taste like? Sweet?
>>13826518>>13826587Red Dawn was paranoid conservative fantasy. Still totally silly, but it was the people who were laying awake at night worrying about the Russians and people who want to take their guns away that were doing it.
>>13832498Chewy and kind of bland. Well, the stringy things that I suspect were beef were chewy.
>>1382675517 year old Middle Eastern girls is what he's doing. Living the dream.
>>13828063Vladimir Putin is Rule 63 Mari. Mind = blown
>>13832524>meatThat's the Ukrainian kind, then. Supposedly more authentic, but also bland as fuck. Sour cream is also traditional, but really only makes it blander.Personally, I prefer the poor Soviet vegeterian variety. My mother and grandmother both cook it gloriously, and it actually comes off a bit spicy from all the pepper.
>>13832649Yeah, it was Ukrainian New Year in Calgary. New to the area, my home city has no Ukrainians except recent immigrants, so I'd never been before.
