Okay, I'll take a crack at this.

Okay, first off if we're talking eldritch horrorbirds we've got to be talking hueg. So, let's make this thing a good 15 feet tall, probably something like 20 or so feet long tip-to-tip. Now that it's hueg, time to make it fucking scary as hell. Keep the giant unformed eyes, the shiny, flesh-coated beak, and the general pinkness of the whole thing. Also, it has four heads each extending from the main body on a long, thin, and weak looking neck, craned in odd twisted forms. The wings will be more akin to shattered arms, with two digits at the ends for manipulation, the rest extending back like normal wing-bones.

Now that it at least looks scary, it has to have some alien motivations to be a true eldritch horror.

These creatures cannot see the world that they depend upon to survive, so let's roll with that.

They are unnaturally hungry and needy. They are in constant need to be fed and cared for, so they're likely pathetically weak. This need is something I can run with, though. You see, each of their gaping beaks constantly is open in that 'dear god, feed me' look baby birds always have, and they constantly speak in whispered tones. They constantly ask of their mother, screech for sustenance and love, and know your deepest hidden sins. These monstrosities feed upon your emotions and will extract every last drop of your spiritual essence.

The black orbs where a normal creature might have eyes, covered in a film of pink flesh stare deep into you as the horrid aberration simultaneously asks for its mother and speaks in your mother's own voice speaking every harsh word she has ever said in your direction.

Just imagine that it feels like a lost orphan. With legs, now that monstrosity can FOLLOW you. There is no escape from Nagnanakaw. Nagnanakaw will find its mother, even if it lies within your memories.

Don't describe them as 15 feet tall three headed monsters, thats too cartoonish and cliché.
Make them human sized with all the other attributes you described. In a dark cave they could pass as naked, shivering, covering humans until they hear you and raise their head and turn around and scramble towards you awkwardly and helpless, amplifying the fear and confusion you feel to feast on it. At first they sound helpless and pathetic but the closer they come the more agitated they get because they're always hungry and always cold and frightened. And god help you if they manage to reach you.

What if these creatures are like cuckoos? They may be small, they may be fuckhueg, but the point is that the creature inserts itself into the family of another species. It destroys the true children and for some reason the new parents become convinced that the Nagnanakaw is their own child, and they have to take care of it and feed it.

But it's always hungry and it never wants to be left alone.

A Nagnanakaw on the dreamscape is a horrible thing. It leaves shriveled dismembered corpses in it's wake. The creatures feeding on not just the physical but the essence. Leaving a sickly unsavory feeling when you view the remains of a victim it has caught.

This however has nothing on one that manages to come to our world. The essence of the dreamscape comes with it and empowers it. It's visage is still fully visible to it's victim. Though it shifts in size, capable of warping to get into any entrance to chase the one it sees.
However, after taking a victim it coats itself in that victims memories. Altering the perceptions of those that knew the victim. Thus the true horror occurs when after hunting one of these down to remove it's corruption from the world. You find the departed's mother cradling the creature. Unaware the Nagnanakaw must feast on meat as well as emotion.
It's always too late. The best course of action is to simply burn the entire display.
Beware while giving it's victims a swift death is surely what your heart desires, the Nagnanakaw is far more docile while feeding. It is thus best to kill it first and quickly before changing targets. Be swift though as once dead it's illusion fades and the tongue is the last thing it takes from it's prey.
