Guy who voted for Binding at the end of last session here.
Still going with Binding for now.
Also, raise Cordelia's Compassion by 1.
We need the extra Torment right now; we can lower it later when we have Torment Engines set up and can get lots of Torment without getting it ourselves.

Regardless, it appears I can't upload the map of Artall, so please just use the ones in the archives.

Your host's. Your own will is equal to your level, however your host's will is added to yours whenever you're resisting external effects, which you're going to be seeing plenty of once you start fighting paladins and the like.

Do we have to increase or decrease the Compassion?
Since a positive Compassion gives us extra Torment, will a negative Compassion penalize the amount of Torment we get?

Yes, but only when you get at least 10% of your maximum Torment (so in this case, three or more). And yes, it must be either increased or decreased.

    >>15038071
    Ah, dammit.
If that's the case, we really can't afford that kind of penalty, especially since our Torment is so tight.
Raise the Compassion. We'll lower it at the next levelup, and go from there. We won't reach the same Will as Cordelia until Level 6, so we'll need to waffle her between 0 and 1 Compassion until then.

Yes. We'll need to get some Torment real soon. I believe we shall be killing one Gerdo by choking it, so that our familiar has a fully intact body to inhabit when we Bind it, and the other we'll go with the good old standby of choking it to death with its own entrails.

I'd like to take a knife and play Dentist, but that's for when we can be assured that the screams won't attract a force we can't handle.

Use our Binding to summon forth a minor demon to inhabit the intact Gerdo body.

How tired do the Koyani with us look to be?
I'd like to get in one more captured patrol if possible.

Also, will we be able to see in complete darkness? Can our familiar? I'm wondering if we might try to Sam Fisher our way into some of the outlying guard posts and houses of the village and eliminate some of the Gerdo while we can.

    >The Kef in the village will no doubt soon notice that several patrols have failed to return.
Well, that's not good. They'll send out patrols in larger groups. Probably led by Kef, too.
We'll have to work carefully from here on out.

Maybe get to the road that connects the village to Veridia, in order to prevent messengers from escaping?
    >> Katsi !9UacgIKB5g 05/24/11(Tue)15:30 No.15038597
    >>15038402

The Koyani appear a bit worn out, however they are most definitely ready for another few fights.

You and your familiar can both see in complete darkness. It's one of many curious little abilities inherent to demons. The Koyani have very good nocturnal eyesight as well, so while they can't see in total darkness, the light of the stars is enough so long as you don't need them to read anything.

This is why everyone wants to be on the Material Plane. You can't be summoned there if you're already there, and you can't be summoned anywhere else from there. Binding a demon already on the Material Plane is incredibly difficult. Binding a demon in Hell FROM the Material Plane is child's play. Even with the vast majority of your power drained, you're still capable of searching out a relatively powerful Imp and binding him into the corpse of the Gerdo.

Of course, it most definitely is a relative amount of power. You were stronger than this creature by the time you could walk. But you're vulnerable, and every little bit counts. The Gerdo's eyes remain glazed in death, staring straight ahead, but the creature begins to stir once more. "Oh, great," the corpse says, "Billions of Imps in Hell, and you bind me."

    Health: 12/17
    Torment: 1/30

A note on the earlier character sheets: Conjuration is still listed as Evocation even though the name was changed in the last thread. This is a mistake. I forgot to update the character sheet in my notes.

    >Billions of Imps in Hell, and you bind me
"Hey, look on the bright side: you get to kill something mortal."

Since the imp has a higher survival than us, can we use its stats when doing things like searching in the woods?
I want to look for another patrol of 5 or less, and use our tried and true ambush tactic of tree-top snipers and nets.
    >> Katsi !9UacgIKB5g 05/24/11(Tue)15:43 No.15038734
    >>15038639

You and the Imp both have a Survival of 1. Normally, however, you do use the highest Survival score in the party (unless it's fifteen people or more, at which point it no longer counts as a war party and starts counting as a platoon instead).

Standard Imp stats are Combat(1), Survival(1), Stealth(2), Diplomacy(2), and since it's been summoned into the body of a Gerdo, it also has Health(4).
    >> Anonymous 05/24/11(Tue)15:46 No.15038765
    >>15038734
Does it cost Torment to move the Imp into a different body, such as a cat or a Kef?

But yeah, let's continue with the trapping. If we don't find any more patrols, we scout out the village a bit with the imp.
    >> Katsi !9UacgIKB5g 05/24/11(Tue)15:50 No.15038806
    >>15038765
You can't summon something that's currently on the Material Plane. So you'd have to kill the Imp (reducing one of its stats by one) and then resummon it by name. It'd be easier to just kill the Imp and summon up a new Imp whose stats haven't been reduced. Also, keep in mind you can bind creatures that aren't exactly like the sample given, it's just a guideline for what you're generally capable of.

    Okay.
Let's go with capturing another patrol, then.
I'd like to roast a Gerdo over a fire, but that should probably be reserved for when we're safely far enough from any patrol routes.

    >>15038878

As you track another patrol of four Gerdo, it appears as though they're retreating towards the logging village. You're able to catch one about a half-hour away, just after sunset. Ambushing them from the foliage to the side of the trail they'd been marching down, you catch all four of them in nets, and then rush to gag them before their shouts can draw much attention. Of course, there's no way you could've avoided the first twenty seconds of commotion or so. It's possible that it may have been heard by nearby patrols, or even by exceptionally keen-eared occupiers in the village.

A masterwork bow has better range and +1 damage (1d6+1 for the composite bows your men are carrying). Transmuting the arrows with it to fine steel arrowheads would also add an additional +1 damage as well as +1 combat at range for masterwork fletching.

Ask him what are our chances at recapturing him (getting all those prisoners back would be great).

The imp is expendable; it only costs us 1 Torment to get another one, and we can use it to cause a distraction or something if we need to sneak away.

Also, I propose that the next imp we summon be a stealthy recon type.

You have very good odds of successfully capturing the town if you bring every who can fight from the fortress, however getting the word to them and bringing them here would take a full day, during which time the situation may change.

The force you have now has surprisingly good odds of capturing the town in an open battle, but still less than half, and there's a fairly high chance that Molio or even you might die in the process. If you go about it more cautiously, you may be able to improve your odds tremendously.

Important distinction: He is possessing a Gerdo's corpse. Anyone who gets even a half-decent look at his face will notice that he's a zombie, and his voice sounds like he's constantly about to die from wasting illness. On the upside, the Imp controlling him can feel no pain.

As night falls, all the patrols have moved into the town, and you and your familiar slip past them in the darkness. Darting from one shadow to the next, you scout the area, meeting up again a half hour later to compare notes.

Most of the occupiers have gone to sleep, and it looks like the Gerdo and Kef have split up the houses between themselves. The Gerdo sleep four to a house, but the Kef aren't as regimented, apparently just sleeping in whatever house they please, usually two or three to a building. All told, the Kef are spread out across five houses, the remaining Gerdo across another five, leaving about three fourths of the village uninhabited.

There's eight Kef awake and patrolling through the village in pairs. It appears all the Gerdo are asleep. In the old town hall/chapel, you can see and faintly hear a pair of Kef discussing something, but of the four patrols, one is always no more than twenty feet away from the chapel, making it impossible to get close enough to make out what they're saying.

ah im sorry, i was doing other things. i suppose the next best course of action in my opinion would be to have our men move closer to the village, to launch an attack if we are discovered, while ourself and the imp will try to kill the sleeping Gerdo. i know torment wont be gained this way but it is easier to kill them quickly rather than risk being discovered by such a large group.

that is assuming that the patrols are fairly regular. If more players were around i would put forward the idea of spending a torment point to try and mask any noised we make.

Are the patrols as predictable as the ones we encountered in Veridia?

If they only patrol in pairs, it might be possible to ambush them, but I've got something else in mind.

We could sneak into each house, and start killing the Kef in their sleep. Or even better, tying them up for later torturing.

Then we might even be able to level up again from torturing all of them to death.

This is going much better than last time. I hope we don't fuck up again.
