The magic from the artifact stirred them to life and they arose with great anger from the ground causing massive volcanoes to form. There is one 'civilized' race, with a Babylonian/Akkadian aesthetic. They lord over the pathetic nomads and use them as sacrifices and slaves.

In the deepest reaches of the west in this land there is a great tower.

This tower goes up for leagues, and upon entering, appears to go down into the ground for leagues as well. It has been there since before the earliest races settled. The inside of it is not barren though, it is full of... things. Things that prey on those foolish enough to enter it and gain it's secret. What secret? That this tower is present on certain planes of existence and is a single constant gateway between them. It is guarded by horrifying interplanar beings, twisted creatures bred of the space in between planes that have leaked into this tower. The inside is an endless spiral staircase going both up and down, while the center is essentially a bottomless pit.

And a 15% chance of being born blackened and charred, with no ability to generate flames at all (worker/slave class). These traits seem to be hereditary. A union of a warrior and normal has 15% of producing a warrior, and two warriors gives a 25% chance. The same applies to the leader class. Slave class has a whopping 70% chance of producing a slave offspring with another normal fire elemental, so they are generally cast off, and ostracized from the rest of the elementals.

As such, certain elementals of this caste raid the walking cities when the opportunity presents itself, as the winged ones are the only ones able to access them.

This has lead to the folk tale of "The Red Bat", a great flaming bat-creature that snatches up children who misbehave.

There is a vast floating plant-island almost the size of a continent at the North Pole. Above it is a floating city of almost equal size. The bitter coldness of the north has led them to both stop moving and rest there. They are both almost deserted, but it is said there is great treasure in the city, and rare, frozen plant life on the island. At several points the plants reach up and pierce the city, as if it had attempted one last growth spasm before it succumbed to the cold. It is spoken of with reverence by the dorfs of the floating cities, as they know that as the fire burns hotter they will need to retreat there. At present though it is inhospitably cold for any of the races of the world, and only explored by mercenaries and adventurers seeking glory.

These dwarves are split up into three main clans that rule the three main sky-cities, and 8 lesser ones.

The first main clan is the Runnkriff, master craftsman who are specialists in ice-based magic which they use to capture and use fire elementals to power their furnaces since they believe "living fire is the purest for forging", they are seen as radical by the other clans, but their crafts are of the highest quality.

The Balum clan is the merchant clan, who (through strict dwarven tradition) are the only ones permitted to openly trade with the rest of the world, all other clans must go through them.

The final clan are the Murrsol, whose warrior heritage has reached stagnation (think the over-ritualized samurai cliche, but DORFS and not weeaboo). They are on the decline, but their sheer size keeps them ahead

So far, we have ground level, which is a volcano ridden continent of flames. Then we have giant islands with peg golem legs that move around the world. Floating algae islands with various mutant tribes. Dragons and gnomes who live in space. We have the sky continents dominated mostly my dwarfs. We've got elves who run from lava constantly underground. The water at ground level is shrinking cause it's almost constantly raining on the sky continents, which, by the way, only experience 5 minutes of nighttime as dangerous as Minecraft?

His body was said to be untouchable even by the hands of time, his speed was said to be such that he could race a lightning bolt to it's target and win, and his strength was said to be able to allow him to shatter mountains with his bare fists. The self dividing wizards are called the Omneseins after their founder Thesidar Omnesein. Knowledge increases among their population like this:

Wizard knows spell A and Spell B. One of the new Wizards knows Spell A, the other knows Spell B. They each have equal magical power, but each of the new Wizards has is better at Spell A or Spell B than the original. And they're still able to do their own research and learn new spells. The actual act of division is voluntary, taking about a week, but the process can only be started during the 5 minutes of night time. Additionally, most wizards divide only once every few years.

Occasionally giant tunneling creatures somehow find their way onto one of the legged continents.

When this occurs a large bounty is placed on the creature as if it is left too long in one area, it can cause large sinkholes in the best case or cause entire sections of land to fall to the burning surface at the worst.

Because of the threat of these creatures, the bounty is paid at the meeting of the sky civilizations in ceremony to those who can prove the deed done (usually by bringing the large, naturally-jeweled heart of the creature and offering it to the assembly)

In fact, if one of these wizards divides to the point that the only thing they know is a spell (37 times in succession), and nothing else of the mind is left, they become constant conduits of that spell. For example, exactly 37 of these Conduits, each channeling the levitation spell is what keeps the 370 sq. mile island up in the air. Another 37 generate the forcefield surrounding it. In fact, 37 is magically significant in this world. For example, a wizard's staff might have 37 foci, or a telescope with 37 enchanted lenses, so on and so forth. This is because in this world, 37 is the number of times a magical field can be wrapped around itself before it collapses..

In fact, the Omnesein security force is one of the most highly trained group of physical fighters, on par with the dwarven warriors. Even so, they are generally looked down upon by the wizards and intellectuals, who think they're brutish and unfitting of being descended from the Omnesein founder.
