I'm thinking about playing DnD via Hangouts. What do you reckon?

You sure you want to use your throwaway? The invites bind to your gmail account so you won't be able to accept it on your real gmail account, unless you're comfortable using a throwaway then it's all good. Lemme know. :D

No you cannot. It's linked to your Google account.

Plus they check for duplicate names with a vengance.

Check their policy:

Your profile and name must represent one person.
Google Profiles doesn’t support profiles for couples or groups of people. Additionally, you can’t create a profile for a non-person entity such as a pet or business. Google may continue to allow existing profiles that don’t meet these criteria, as long as the profile names are unchanged.
Have fun giving the man your information! (Also check out how they are doing this to make the info more alluring to advertisers.)

Now the best way I think of is having a group join a circle together. Them the DM can host a hangout, players can join whenever they're ready and then go from there.

Hangouts are like a live webcam chat (similar to tin cha I think) but because it's invite only (unless you want a public hangout) then we'd only have bros in there.

Anyways, DM can relay the story to us and the players would be able to interact.

When we did this via googlewave, we had some dice apps that were able to be thrown into some waves. Hopefully we'll have something like this. If not, the DM could just roll dice in real time, or we could all use a live online dice website.
