    TG QUEEEEEEEEST!!!

    Last Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/16975328/

Short Summary: You have just managed to bring Douglas Cartland back to life after Data's Lal-thing monster made him quite dead. Sending Spike down to reinforce the group, you now must decide where to go next as you explore the Cathedral of the Order.

Stealing map from last thread anon because he did damn fine work.

As usual, longer summary/inventory available on demand.

    Fuck yeah Meta Quest!

Okay, I think we need to have Spike and Heather check the room with the statues of Data, Heather, and Spike, to see if one of Douglas has magically appeared.

Also, this give Data a chance to make sure that Douglas has been stabilized, and to see if any holes in his armor can be patched up.

Have Data scan the cot and its surrounding environment with a tricorder.

In addition, if anyone has a portable radio, turn it on. If I remember correctly, monsters in Silent Hill cause a certain type of static on radios when they get into proximity of them.

    >> Anonymous 11/22/11(Tue)20:17 No.16994546
    >>16994512

The type of static differs when monsters approach. It's different from the static when you can't find a station that broadcasts on the frequency you select. I think.

And later on, if the radio goes dead silent and its batteries are still well-charged, we're either five kinds of boned or did a good job.
    >> Anonymous 11/22/11(Tue)20:20 No.16994573

    >>16994546
If there aren't any stations that broadcast on a given frequency, a radio is silent.
Radio static is whitenoise, caused by too many different stations trying to broadcast on that frequency. For instance: The frequency civilian boats use to call for rescue is dead silent when not in use, so that ships with weak radios can still call for help.

Plus, it takes a REALLY LONG TIME to figure out how to make an android. You know Intel's processors? Takes 100 engineers 2 years to design one. You know Androids? They're, like, 1000 processors. Even Tony Motherfucking Stark would take at least 3 months to build one.

To be fair, this is purely my opinion and nothing more. I am just thinking of the facilities we currently have access to. As has been mentioned several times, this will require high-end tech from Star Trek. That is hax we can barely afford in small doses. Trying to do it in other conditions will just increase the likelihood that it will not give the desired result. We can rectify this with time/victories/aggressive magpies, but there still the issue that it will be challenging at best. Not to mention the fact I really don't know if we should or not. This would have to be put to Data for him to think on and get back to us. I don't feel we should push it on him. ESPECIALLY NOW AFTER HE JUST SAW A REPRESENTATION OF HIS DAUGHTER BECOME A LOVECRAFTIAN BORG HYBRID. Maybe after the mission, we can present the idea to him.

On the meta side of the argument, it will come down to the /TG/ dice lords smiling upon the whole process. And we all know how well that tends to go, especially on something that will break an android's artificial heart if it fails.

A young man, dressed in a hoodie and jeans stumbles through the door to the chamber. He clutches his side, which oozes with blood and looks around, desperately. Finally his eyes lock onto Doug's.

We don't know if any of the world's cities are intact, but there's talk of heading to London, Atlanta or Sydney to see if we can talk to the survivors in those cities and find out more information on what's going wrong. We haven't sent anyone, but we probably should.

The Orz don't give two shits about causing pain, and we tried to interact wtih them as little as possible, and even then our alliance was a bit of a dubious idea.
Silent Hill, on the other hand, invokes shit-tons of pain, and interacts strongly with people. It is a pretty bad idea.

    To give you an example:
There's a difference between "Install an A.I. on your ship" and "Install SHODAN on your ship". There is also a difference between "Throw cyborgs at shit you want blown up" and "Have in-depth philosophical discussions with Mendicant Bias".
Namely, having a A.I.-run Cyborg vat has a chance of going Hal 9000 on you, but also a chance that it won't. Having a "SHODAN and Mendicant" psychiatry clinic has a chance of causing both you, and everything you love, going Hal 9000 on yourself.

About the Orz thing not completely biting us on the ass yet:
I half suspect they've bumped into Durandal in the depths of space somewhere, and we are now right fucked.

But, as tempting as this may be, this is Douglas' moment to confront his inner demons. Be ready to spring into action and shield Douglas (if his shield system was damaged from the fight with the Un-Lal), and dispose of the obviously fake/demonic SWAT team.

Dispassion won't help her. He has to face his regrets.

You know, as much as Silent Hill makes people face their inner demons, it has some glimmer of positive hidden in it's folds of completely fucked up.
Well, besides people's own fears, most of the fucked-up-ness is really tied to the Order's crazy god and it's minions.

I have the feeling that anything we say will have a marginal effect on him. While we were able to help out Data, that's because we had extensive knowledge of his past and was able to come up with a reasonably fast solution to his anguish.

I think Heather might be better qualified than we are for talking Doug out of his grief. Even if we prompted him, we'd just be a stranger. It might be more powerful coming from Heather.

If nobody else is handling this, then:
"This is true. Your son was killed, and as his father, you had a lot of influence in the way he lived his life. At the time, there was no way that you could have known that your son would die like this, and no way you could have prevented it.
You loved your son - which is why you regret his death. You didn't want him dead, and if it was within your power to stop his death, you'd do it.
A Different person, with Different choices, might have changed this. But you are not a different person. You are Douglas Cartland, P.I., and you have to make do with limited knowledge like everyone else.
The things that have happened in the past, your regrets, you could not possibly have stopped. You can learn from them, and stop more mistakes in future, but you'll never stop every single bad thing from happening to everyone.
There will always be mistakes you've made, which you regret, and that you've learned from. But you've learned all you can from what you've seen here, and all you'll gain from staying in these thoughts is pain.
Let the memory go, and let the past be laid to rest."

The quest item that we're meant to loot was probably the white phial anyway, but we might be able to get a Mask from one of the SWAT officers for the final statue.

Lots of SWAT officers wear Earmuffs for indoor assaults because gunshots in indoor areas can deafen you. If one is wearing Earmuffs, then that's what we put on Spike's statue.
