As far as basic build, I figured he'd be a Physical primary/Social secondary/Mental tertiary character build.

What sort of skills would he have? I figured, as far as his most limited skillset (mental) goes, I'd give him 1 dot in occult (representing his contact with/knowledge of Changeling tricks), 1 dot crafts (he is associated with toymaking, even if the Changelings do most of the work), 1 dot investigation (looking for doors to more unusual houses, etc), and one more dot I still dont know where to go.

Well, in order to come out of torpor early (yearly, rather than milleniumly like he would normally), he has to be fed with blood that's of an equal or greater blood potency. So that's where the other vampires come in. Though there might be some wangy Ordo Dracul stuff he can use to get round that.

And yeah, I love the idea of him tripping on a thousand different balls as he takes a little vitae from each of the changelings who helps him out along the way.

Scratch that, I just re-read the rules on Torpor. As long as Santapire doesn't fall below Humanity 5, he won't have a problem waking up every year. Of course, the safest option for him will be to get himself staked once he's travelled the world and then have the Changelings pledged to remove the stake at the start of the next Christmas period.

The impression I'm getting of this guy is that he's trying to be as good as he can be. To do that, I reckon he'd like to guarantee that he won't do anything harmful over the year by having himself staked and torpored, and he knows that the Changelings will stick to their side of the deal because, well, Changelings.

So he'll still need to be Ordo Dracul for feeding on the Changelings, but nothing else wangy.

That's just the thing. Forced March means HOHOHO-speed only requires three vitae every two hours. So in one night, he doesn't require too much. Still, tripping balls probably helps and keeping himself topped up means he's not going to go into hunger frenzy anytime soon.

Thinkin' bout frenzy though. The Changelings probably have to do a lot to prepare the way and make sure any potential sources of Frenzy are out of the way of the Santapire. Nothing would ruin Christmas like Santa flipping out and destroying a city-block. He's safe from hunger frenzy, but fear and anger frenzy are still potential sources. So they probably go out of their way to plot routes that avoid main roads (too many sources of light) and, on the nights leading up to Christmas, sneak around and sabotage any security systems to make sure we don't have burglar alarms going off. Though that could maybe be done on the night. They probably send heralds out to vampire organisations in the target areas too, saying "Santa is coming, if you know what's good for you, stay indoors", because if any unfamiliar vampires get in his way we risk Anger Frenzy.

As I understand it, that's not a terribly good idea, though it might work in a different way.

Vampires in Torpor aren't just in a braindead coma. They dream. Of course, if he's entering voluntarily, those dreams tend to be peaceful, but the dreams are strong enough that vampires who've spent a long time in torpor find it hard to distinguish between what actually happened and what they dreamed in Torpor. So if he goes into torpor, he probably won't forget about his wife. Instead, he'll remember. He might spend the whole year in this dreamland with his whole family, together like they never were in life, waking up just once a year to carry out the duty he's always carried out. Maybe he doesn't even realise she's dead, the dreams are so real.

Either way, he doesn't torpor to forget. He torpors to remember.

Which is sweet in a tragic kind of way.

It ought to be eminently possible to shut down any news of a Masquerade breach. All the evidence that'll be left would be a place ruined like it had been hit by several freight trucks. Any video evidence would be a very blurry red and white thing flying around, or a fat guy in a Santa costume with some odd looking friends leaving presents. Task Force Valkyrie and their contacts in other countries, as well as local vampire establishments will definitely be able to cover that up. The vampire coping mechanisms will just kick into place, albeit ramped up to 11.

Plus, most people are home for Christmas, and so it'll be easier to keep places under wraps.

It's in the Carthian book, aka "We didn't know where else to put these things, so we gave them to the Carthians".

First two tiers of the Coil of Blood are good, for reduced blood demands and the ability to always feed off of humans, animals and changelings rather than just vampires. The first and third tiers of Coil of the Beast are good as well. First tier lets him resist a frenzy just by spending a willpower point, third tier means that if he frenzies for an hour at the start of each night, he won't go into frenzy for the rest. Though how exactly he'll frenzy for an hour and not cause serious damage to his lair I don't know.

I don't know if the idea of Changelings wandering into a Vampire's Torpor-Dreams has ever really been explored. But it's definitely another angle to work from. That's why in all of his dreaming he doesn't forget about his job, because there's always a friendly figure at his side, guiding him along.

The young Miss Claus will no doubt have some magical wards to put in place to help her father out. Though she's probably more of a one to keep her distance and not get too involved with the actual distribution of the presents. She's there for support.

Some of the Changeling bookd gave it a barest mention, but it never got great detail. If you're looking for ideas, I'm reminded of Neil Gaiman's sandman, when - in the volume, I think - there was a discussion of the dreams of animals, people, monsters and gods. If might have an idea of what undead dream-space is like.

As for Miss Claus, I figured she'd have been a couple of centuries old. I didn't want to finalize whether Santapire inspired or was inspired by the Santa stories - I prefer the whole "leave it to a storyteller to decide" approach. I figured Miss Claus, being an Acanthus mage (with time manipulation and all) was able to manipulate her aging rate thanks to some interplay of Time and Life arcana.

I figured, if anything, miss Claus would be a mission control sort of figure. She'd coordinate things with the Changelings, help her dad get re-acclimatized to waking up from the torpors even with his memories intact, being dormant for a year has to take some toll on you), and she'd no doubt enchant the sled so it could hold up to the rigors of being accelerated at supersonic speeds.

It's not so much about English definitions, as nWoD definitions.

So spirits are the spirits of a place, idea or thing. They represent that thing in the Spirit world and can have an impact on the thing they represent in the real world. So the Spirits of Christmases Past, Present and Future would work. They exist to further the needs of Christmas. In A Christmas Carol, that involved getting Scrooge to recognise the true meaning of Christmas so that he could celebrate it and encourage others to believe in the power of Christmas. A win for them.

Ghosts are just the souls of people who have died, trapped here by some unfinished purpose or business.

Geists are some weird hybrid of a ghost and a spirit of death. Over time, they come to symbolise the way they died. Marley was an unrepentant, avaricious, greedy sinner till the day he died a cold, soulless death. And so he works to cause more deaths like his, people who've lost touch with humanity just dying. But geists bond with people close to death sometimes, the better to carry out their needs and to feel a little human again. This makes a Sin-Eater. Clearly, Marley's Sin-Eater moderates that need to kill and first tries to find out whether the sinner really is irredeemable. Hence the plot.

Hell, maybe the narrator is a Sin-Eater. It would explain how he seems to get everywhere.
