Here's a list of things that NEED TO GET DONE RIGHT NOW.

While international attention and goodwill is still high: Talk to India and Russia about acquiring some more fast movers, and a fourth Frogfoot. (4 Su-24M2, or 4 Su-35/Su-30 MKI)

Talk to whoever we can about buying ATGMs, grenade launchers, and SVDs, and PKMs. We also need to talk to Israel about supplying us with Negev LMGs.

We should buy 2 companies worth of BTR 80s and 90s, 72/25 split.

Talk to Russia and India about buying a company of T-90s. We can increase to 2 armored battalions (1 BMP company, 2 BTR companies, 1 T-90 company) after we get our second mine and inland oil exploited.

We need more air defence for our troops, as well. We need Pantsir systems for company and battalion level defense, as well as SA-8 systems for battalion and area defense. See if Russia is willing to sell 2 batteries of S-300 system in light of the SCUD attack, as well as 3 batteries of dummies.

Just reposting this here in the new Thread. Replies to Aviationfag and his awesome yet expensive want for Flankers, and Anon who was worried about a 1st world Nation such as USA, China, most of Europe, Brazil, etc attacking us with Force Projection powers.

    >>17752401
Fencer's fill the role cheaper, and we have the LICENSE to manufacture the damned parts for it! I was under the impression that our Fulcrum's and Frogfeet were being maintained by the Russkies at our airbase, with Zanzi assistance/learning. A small and highly efficent/well trained airforce is great (ala Royal Australian Air Force/Isreali Air Force style), but I still think we need more multi-role fighters, at least a Squadron of Fencer's. MiG-21's are ok for us now, but eventually they will need to be replaced. If we can wait a year, Russia might be willing to sell us Flankers and then we buy 2-3 squadrons worth and replace our old Fishbeds at the same time with a much better aircraft that can do just about everything.

Also, do we really need the Frogfeet now? I'm sure the squadron of Super Tuccano's we have for training and CAS can take over there, especially if we end up with Fencers/Flankers for our fast moving Air To Ground.

    >>17752435
Its not a matter of Superpowers force projecting us, its a matter of the 3 nations around us attacking with more men and armour. We only have a single company of BMP-2's. They have a 70mm cannon, and there is only 20 of em. I worry about Liberia and their recent expansion into Ivory Coast. We *need* medium tanks (T55 minimum) to deal with enemy threats. Tanks are a great asset to have, infantry will refuse to assault them in the open, they boost friendly Morale, they have BIG GUNS, and they're fast and manouverable. It also frees up our airforce from tank hunting to overall close air support of the Army and Air Defence.
    >> Anonymous 01/31/12(Tue)17:33 No.17752626
Well, after just looking at the armies of our various neighbors, I now agree that we still need to spend more on our army.

that is a first world army bought in one go .

No wahy we can sustain that and not go broke. rework this with t-75 , or no tanks at all.

The BTRs are needed and the Frogfoot can wait. a cheap MiG 21 , with LanceR Modification to act as figther bombers will do just fine

You do know we HAVE 20 fishbeds, right?

They are NOT very good ground-attack aircraft.

We just bought 10 Patrol Boats, those ain't cheap. We should be able to eat the cost of 2 companies of BTRs and 4 fast movers, either Fencers OR Flankers, with our economic state as is.

    >>17752610

The STs are good planes for counter insurgency work. As an patrol craft for the interior and over our forested regions, they'll work perfectly but if we throw them into a full blown war, their slow prop speeds will doom them and their pilots.

Mil stuff mostly looks good, so

    >>17752522

    We need Medals. ASAP.

I'd say the units that participated in the fighting should given a Presidential Unit Citation.

And Andingo Swa'sin for a Distinguished Flying Cross

We can use this for PR work. Perhaps some media outlets would love to purchase an exclusive with the hero of the hour.

Oh, why dont we try some of our own weapons production?

We do want to consider some Anti-tank protection, so why dont we, the Zanzi people, with various russian engineers assistance if they'll give it, Develop some anti-tank platforms of our own?

If we're trying to be an indepent state, then lets work a bit on developing our own protection, for the test, fixed gun emplacements could be simple enough.

I actually thought about this. All the forces who participated will get a ribbon for the battle.

All the pilots will get a medal for their bravery in the face of danger, Swa'sin will get an additional, better medal, probably our highest award. The Frogfoot pilot who kept his plane together also gets a second medal, some form of mid-level one. The Helo squadron gets a citation for bravery, as does our SF, for the insertion. No sense going all willy-nilly with medal, that is the mark of a tin-pot. Any other meritous actions I didn't cover also get mid-level medals beyond what's given. Any wounded get our Purple Heart equivalent.

I've never heard of any international law along those lines. The main problem that I see is the issues associated with creating a DMZ next to our neighbors. There are Iranian mines that can supposedly be disarmed electronically, but I'd keep good records just in case. Note that antitank mines take a lot of pressure to set off and should thus not kill as many civilians.
    >>17752752
The only thing I would make domestically would be a main battle rifle, and we already have a lot of those. A Kalashnikov rip-off would be good if we ever went with the militia idea.

I can see some homegrown defence industry being sustainable.

If it does produce totally new systems, these will have to be confined to infantry carried ones due to price consideration.

Otherwise, this defence research company can work on modifications and upgrades that we require.

For example: additional armour for our vehicles, overhauls for our planes and customisation of weapon systems.

    MAY 2016 - STATE REPORT
    -------------------------------------------

-Incident 2 results: Paperwork confirms that these are working with the other rebels, and much of the equipment came from Burkina, and in turn, from Libya at some point during the Libyan Revolution. Two survivors are in the hospital, under military guard. Interrogation is scheduled for as soon as they are healthy.

-Military Hardware Needs are on hold at this time while repairs are done to our current equipment post battle. (Editor's Note: For you /k/ommandos lurking here. When you decide we need to order some X Y and Z, put it in a list with - or >, I am so-so knowledgeable in most gear, but I can't visually sort 20 items in a list.)

-Swa'sin City placement is still under question, perhaps a suggestion?

-KFC would like to open a store in your capital!

-NeoTekz has found an application to the nanites. They are capable of using them to construct items smaller than a Book Box (roughly 14x14x14'') using the nanites to move material like a 3D printer. It can work off any CAD files. They can replicate themselves in this printer box.

-Ghana Flu has begun spreading person to person in a small village. It is under maximum quarantine now.

-Enemy Submarine Spotted! Another submarine spotted, in INTL waters on the surface. Identified as an American Submarine (20 internets to whomever recognizes that reference in title.)

-Black Superman has become a craze. Growing number of people are beginning to believe he is a real super hero with super powers. The rest find him a funny thing. Some tourists from overseas have booked flights to our country to meet this super hero for "teh lulz" as they put it.

Personally, I don't think we need mines. We have a decent enough airforce that anyone trying to push in armor is going to be absolutely SHITKICKED by our frogfeet. Those things flying tanks of doom. Assuming we didn't get shafted, each one can carry 11 ATGMs, meaning any armor push would be suicidal since we just demonstrated how clearly we can fuck over someone with a half-decent air watch(For Africa).

    >> Fleet Admiral Anon 01/31/12(Tue)17:57 No.17752863
I've just sorta picked up on this, but we're going the direct opposite of most African nations and forming a small yet effective Armed Forces. We've only something like 12,000 Men in the Army, no milita, although we are implementing Swiss/Isreali consripction across all branches including technical.

So we want to hit hard and fast, with overwhelming force. There is a great way to do this. We make several Light Infantry Battalions for jungle warfare, ala the Australian Army (Highly trained and motivated). Then, we build an Armoured Cavalry Regiment, preferably two.

An Armoured Cavalry Regiment has the advantages of being a fully self contained force able to smash through enemy armour, hold ground effectively and is highly mobile. To create an ACR, we will need a Tank Battalion (2-3 Companies of Tanks, total of around 32-48 tanks), a Mechanized Infantry Battalion (2-3 Companies of Infantry with BMP-2's), a Motorized Artillery Battery, (Self propelled Guns of some sort, 4-12 of them), and if we're feeling really spendy an Attack Helicopter Squadron (4-12 Attack Helicopters, our Hinds would fill this role very nicely, but some Eurocopter Tigers would be bloody brilliant!).

It looks expensive, and it is, but we would be able to smash just about anything short of a Brigade sized Assault+ by a combined arms enemy. An ACR can stand up to and fight a US marine Ampibious Landing Group on near even terms with support from our Air Force.

    >>17752863
How are our Special Operations forces? For the cost, they're some of the most cost effective things we can buy. Also, we should build an AR-18 factory to arm all of these conscripts.

Have neotekz test out their functionality as a battlefield ammunition dispenser. If it works well, and can literally fart out complete, filled magazines, we might have a winner in terms of revolutionary battlefield technology. Ask them to make one capable of creating any of the ordnance we use.

-4 Su-35 OR Su-30 MKI (Or an equivalent)

I will support more helos, though.

Add in this to my order:

11 Mil Mi-24 Hinds (Latest model, 2 trainers, 9 more for our helo infantry
5 Mil Mi-28 Havocs (Later Model, 1 trainer, 4 for our helo infantry formation)

Then we'd just need a form of Fast Attack Vehicle we can airlift with our Hips, and our Helo infantry will have heavy ground support.

It's certainly interesting and I think I might have even learned some shit. I understand the need for a larger, more modern military. It helps set us apart from the rest of the rabble on the continent. However, me and from what I've gathered several other people need a break from all the weapons talk. We need to focus on domestic issues, and maybe conquering Burkina Faso.

I am afraid of our nation becoming like the big guy next door (relativly speaking, Nigeria isn't that far )but if we can avoid their mistakes and make sure to eliminate corruption, or at least control it, we have a path to modernization by 2030-2040. Building a military will take years at the soonest, because we have to train everyone from ground zero, even with our foreign trainers, so we can't just BLOW OUR WAD on military just yet. How advanced our ports are will help determine how we can import goods and export products after all.

Conquering territory can get your shit stomped if you do it WRONG. You should never declare war on someone without a legitimate casus belli or are called to war due to casus foederis. IF we were to destabilize Burkina Faso and go in to bring peace to the region, like I suggested last thread, we wouldn't get our shit stomped. Granted, we couldn't go doing it to every single one of our neighbors, we'll need to do it over decades. It's what Ivory Coast was GOING to do but we stopped them.

    JUNE 2016 - STATE REPORT
    -------------------------------------------

-Our advisers have looked over the weapons >>17753510 list, and note that, while such things would be useful in the long run, we are stretched on cash with our military budget. Perhaps we should seek closer ties with Russia - or wait until our industry has developed further? It is a nice goal.

-Your people demand a Black Super Man TV series.

-Agriculture update: Another drought has hit, our irrigation systems have helped lessen the blow. We have enough stockpile to make up for our losses for now.

-Brush Fire! Dry conditions has started a large brush fire near our farms. While it is natural, necessary, and still in "wild" territory, it is dousing the area in thick smoke.

-Our specialists wish to found a University for Engineers, Medical Students, Agriculture Workers, Educators, and Pilots. In the long run this would produce more of these specialists - in the short term, it will cost us both money and slow projects related to these specialists.

-2nd Goldmine is fully producing at this point.

-Railway has made great progress (original map post shows this progress.)

-KFC has set up it's first store, it is an amazing success! Sales Taxes alone have greatly increased our city's revenue.

-NeoTekz confirms that this box COULD produce both oil and ammunition at a steady amount. However a "liquid safe" version would need to be made for the oil. They also suggest, if we have them research that, that they make 5% off all proceeds in any oil version.

    naval power
    >my face when

If we go for naval power, I'd advise purchasing 2-3 Kilo class diesel submarines for coastal defense operations, along with several basic frigates. The big problem is finding the proper units to buy. From the Russian side I'd say we just need basic coastal boats along with our inhereted colonial fleet (assuming we made minor upgrades) should be good. The largest vessel we should be looking to get is something like a retired Alligator class since we are GLORIOUS COMRADES with the soviet union, along with Zubr class boats for escort.

Also, we should make sure we are in good with the African Union. That way we can have more international prestige.

wikipedia is awesome for the man who is too lazy to look up pictures on google images note goes here.

And once these purchases go through, taking into consideration that they will be spread out so that our economy can handle the load, we won't need to.

Besides, all of these purchases are important, because each piece of bought weaponry shifts our political alliances one way or another. The weapons deal for a grenade launcher could give us more ties to Russia, or open up new economic ties to South Korea.

Domestic Security Apparatus? If that's what America's Homeland Security is then I think I know what your talking about. Our police force is being trained up by...It escapes me if it's Russia or the UN, and I know our fire department has received quite a lot of funding lately. We don't have a special department dedicated to preventing terrorism though. Our military is basically solely devoted to protecting our country so they serve as border patrol and do various other jobs that would be delegated to the powers of a dedicated domestic security division. I would rate it probably a six or seven out of ten.

If Mukia decides to park a carrier group off the coast and wreck your shit there isn't much you will be able to do about it, but having a stockpile of good anti-ship weaponry *might* be enough to make them think you are dangerous enough to make them consider a diplomatic sloution before they get to the ''wreck your shit'' stage. JULY 2016 - STATE REPORT
    ------------------------------------------

-Black Superman has agreed to a public meeting, in front of the people, where he will be awarded a special position as a one-man government sponsored police fighter and not be part of any "police force."

-Brush Fire has gotten out of control and is burning into already desperate crops! Russia has sent a fire-fighting plane along with some AU support as well. They will arrive this month, but fires burn much faster than planes can traverse continents...

-NeoTekz accepts the deal and promises quiet results within 5 months to 12 months on the Oil. The Ammo Production box is ready to go. As for efficiency, you feed it any matter. It disassembles it and re-assembles it into the matter you need within this 14'' cube. It will not operate outside it. Theoretically speaking, you could fill it with sand and it would produce a box of ammunition... the exact process is guarded by them. They assure us it is safe.

-US response on the sub was that the crew needed fresh air, and reminds you international waters are, international.

-TV Producers have picked up. One set even claims to have the "real" black superman. They are currently out shooting a pilot of Superman stopping the brush fires. Audiences eagerly await.

-Russia has offered (again) to meet our further military needs in exchange for an open military alliance, and hidden research facility.

-Rebels! A rebel has surrendered to our armed forces. He claims they are armed with a mix of old-regime weapons and new American equipment via Libya. He is offering up more information in exchange for a pardon, and a high end rent/tax/utilities free apartment in the capital.

-Iran accuses us of supporting America because we would not supply them engineers for repairing their oil fields! Russia doesn't give a single fuck however.

    >Bush Fires

Authorise the firefighters to make use of our hinds. If we get them to clear out areas around the fire, we can curtail it's spread. Assign more troops as needed.

    >NeoTekz

It's useful but untest tech is highly dangerous. God. Lets be bloody careful with the thing.

    >US response

Can't do anything about that. Let it go.

    >Rebels

He will be provided a new identity and a normal government housing. Unless he can guarantee us high quality information. At which point we may upgrade his housing.

That's nice Iran, we don't give a fuck.

We don't want to paint a target on us, so don't bother going full Russian. See about buying 4 Fencers and small arms we need, at least. That'll free up 4 more fishbeds for training purposes.

I'm not sure what to do with the rebel. We obviously can't pardon him fully, and no matter what we can't trust the intel he gives us.

Begin trial deployment of the ammo box as a platoon-level resupply unit. Begin possible marketing to Israel, Russia, South Africa, and India. We might be able to begin trading with them in exchange for some of the hardware on our list.

no russians. We are the Third Way damnit, we do not want to be a pawn in the NEO COLD WAR.

Also, see if we can get any nearby aid from anyone nearby. Help is help, and this fire is bad. The sooner the better. Perhaps France can rush something since they have a nearby base in Cote d'Ivore, or perhaps we can hire the Evergreen in a pinch.

Also, Libya? Give him half of what he wants, in exchange for supply route information. Then investigate. We don't give out shit for free, and let him know that if he is lying, he will be tried in our courts.

    >Russian offer
Politely decline. Also, mention to them that the US is suspicious of us and has a sub watching us. Tell them that we should probably play things cool for a while until the US gets distracted.

    >Rebels

Tell them politely but firmly that we are not allies of America, but we're not about to paint targets on ourselves for a mistake that they made.
Have our analysts, and diplomats, take a look at the Iran situation, and ask the US if they still want us to reject any deals with Iran.

Turning sand into ammo is no small feat, if we play this right we could end up a world superpower.

    >NeoTekz
Talk with about having them set up some sort of official branch of NeoTekz Inc. in our country. This is in preparation for a global press conference for the unveiling of the cure, and any further technological progress. Also, really stress the AIDS cure. Start selling the ammo boxes. Send the offer first to Russia, then to India, then to Israel, then to the rest of the world. Give the aforementioned three nations a 10% discount to earn us some good will.

    AUGUST 2016 - STATE REPORT
    ------------------------------------------

-Rebel info has been acquired, it seems that the CIA was at one time funding them until the C-130 incident. There were two separate groups, one was an elite brigade from the military (Incident 2), the other were disgruntled rebels who did not like who was put into power (1st fight in jungle region.) He claims Liberia is backing them now but the US has backed off entirely.

-Liberia(IC) is having rebel issues, ZIA informs us....

-Ghana Flu Incident has passed, says Ghana. WHO has closed the quarantine down in response to this, after verifying and distributing vaccinations to the populaces in need.

-University of Port Liberty has been founded officially. 10,000+ students have joined, even though the facilities set up can only support about 4,000 students. Many classes are standing room only. The University has requested more funds to purchase new land and build a proper- larger- facility.

-World News! Further protests in America, there has been calls of a rigged election.

-World News! Scotland has left the United Kingdom (Peacefully.) and is currently undergoing new government reformations.

-Elections for our own people is coming up January 2017... of course you are expected to win. There are no current opponents running against you. (Unless you count a rebel representative. Who everyone is ignoring.)

Buying some should be a long term goal (can be rented out when not in use), but given the rebels and the scud-launchers this is not an immidiate priority.

People we should talk to for renting one: Canadians, Americans And Russians, they all posses the aircaft we need. Mabye we can use our milatary contracts with the Russians to convince them to lend them to use at a discounted price?

-Wild Fire Issue has been contained. Thanks to your rapid response and request for help.

-Calling Liberia out on backing the rebels has gained a a negative remark from Liberia. US has no comments and are to busy with domestic issues.

-Testing of the "Magic Box" has yielded actual results... a solid block of granite, a solid block of gold, a box of bread, a box of ammunition. It seems to work.

-World News: US protests seem to be three different groups, one wanting the current president to step down, another wanting change of government as a whole, and another wanting equality (class warfare.) In addition to actual government position on staying in power backed by major corporations.

-Black Superman has announced he will be running in the elections AGAINST the President. Requesting President for Life be his co-runner. He has offered his own brand of Superman Icecream to anyone who votes for him.

-Scotland is interested in buying our oil.

-University has purchased land and begun construction of a large, modern complex!

-Our new factories have been completed by local corporations and are ready to begin producing parts for the nation and their own profit.

-Drought is still occurring, food is beginning to get hard to come by in this part of the world - and with recent flooding in the US Midwest, so has UN Food Programs found it hard to find food.

-Unidentified Object has been picked up on radar!

    HONORE BLACK SUPERMAN!

Right, gentlemen. We need to start getting dirty; our primary concern domestically is how to safely neutralise Black Superman without damaging our reputation with the people.

Secondly try to secure some food supplies from Brazil and India in exchange for trade/oil/whatever. DON'T GIVE THE BOX AWAY.

Intercept the UFO with our standard flying squad; I'll leave the details up to aviatorfag.

    >Food
Well, time to do some field test. Start pumping out bread from our magic box and distributing it to our people. Obviously it's a little risky but I think it's safe.

    >Unidentified object
Well, scramble jets to try to get eyes on the object.

    >Scotland
We'll gladly sell them oil, why wouldn't we want more money?

    >University
When it is finished, let's have El Presidente tour the facility and sit in on a few classes, maybe teach a class in business since he did graduate with a business degree.

    >Black Superman
Welcome the competition but decline his request to run as his vice-presidente. Start campaigning in the major cities first, and then the rural regions. Run one hell of an intense campaign, but make it a fair campaign. No bribing voters.

    >Liberia
Well give them a negative remark right back!

    >Wild Fire
    Congratulate our fire fighters.
    >>17755879
EXACTLY. We need to be thinking long-term, altruistic goals. Once we build up enough good will we become invincible.

Scotland and UK are not seeing eye to eye, and North Sea is rather heavily operated by not-scottish-rigs...

Also, we already have full rigs out to sea built by russians and partly operated by our own people. Unless you mean further exploration.

    Oh shit.

Have neotekz look into room-temperature superconductors and crystal capacitors. If we can get those, we should be able to field combat-capable lasers, at lesat on aircraft, giving us a MASSIVE edge.

    yes, was meaning further exploration.

Actually fair point, how are our relations with the UK? Judging from the whole shakeup with with independence, they may be selling some nearly new equipment (especially MBT's and AFV's)

That or we could hire some out of work Scottish troops for training purposes (large proportion of the para's and other "elite" units are Scottish)

We should probably get some more desalinization units online, and see if we can get some more efficient agriculture. Someone suggested cultivating algea last thread to make cheap, poor quality foodstuffs, maybe look into that.

Black Superman dies bravely defending the president, his dying words are that the current president is a great leader. There are no witnesses except the president of his death.

Shit's gonna hit the fan soon in regards to Liberia. Increase patrols in our waters (Do we have a navy?)

That actually gives us an out. Ask him if he'd be willing to go to the US to help them as he's helped us. We have no right to keep him in our land, so he should strike out and help the whole world.

This also takes him out of the election.

Eh, he wouldn't be able to (unless he manage to show that he's US born or something).

Also, I wouldn't be so sure about throwing away Russia's alliance offer. It will fix our army to a better standard and we will be a very unlikely target for anyone that doesn't want to take a fight with Russia. Remember, we're not in the Cold War anymore, the USA seems to be in a bit of trouble and the EU isn't completely united yet. China is expanding in east Africa, but mostly economically and binding their economy to them, something we don't want. The possibility of having a military alliance only (with trade relations as well) is about as a good deal we can get.

    A few thoughts:

-The NeoTekz Box: Our "findings" hit dead ends... It's dropped, dead end, doesn't work, just some Nigerian scam it turns out... We produce shit in secret and in small amounts so as to not drawn suspicion.

-Black Superman: Do we know the identity of this guy or is he some random skinny running around in tights? If it has to go illegal and we off him, we create and serve for free a Black Superman ice cream flavor.

-Armed Forces: I feel bad for starting the focus on armed forces when I brought up the STAR. I say we focus on what we can sustain and gets us best bang-for-our-buck, both fiscally and politically; we shouldn't be a puppet.

-University: We have 10k ppl on a campus that can support 4k... What kind of screening process was there to get into the university? Entrance exams or putting your name on a list? For all we know, we could have 6k worth of turd factories and produce no positive results.

-Liberia: Increase border and air patrols. Fishbeds and Helo/ST patrols both.

    >Liberia

Step up border patrols along the Liberia(IC)-Zanzi border.

Produce a few of these Magic Boxes, place them at our gold mines to increase gold production without drawing suspicion. Do not say anything about the nano-assembler; no public announcements, no telling anyone about them.
Make a small factory to construct more of these.

    >Black Superman

I'm sceptical to Scotland-Zanzia-Russia ties. Sure, Scotland may not be UK's favorites, but I doubt they'll want to cut with Europe and get into bed with Russia. Either they'll join the EU or they'll be in some kind of totally-not-EU-we-swear relationship somilar to Norway. For that matter I think they'll be more keen to grow closer to Scandinavia than some African banana republic.

Also, not to complain OP/GM, but some 80% of UK's oil fields are in the Scottish territorial or economic waters and go through Aberdeen for processing. While the companies operating there may not be scottish, I doubt they have the same generous terms that were in effect in Libya pre-gaddaffi. This would mean thet they would get tax revenues from it (and are able to nationalise) and buying their 'own' oil would probably be cheaper and easier than importing it from a west african no-body.
