02/01/12(Wed)11:05 No.17761058That evening, you saunter over to Chroi, who seems to know his way around his great ax, and ask if he's interested in practicing. The man, who has literally said nothing to you the entire time you've know him, agrees. You go out into the wide, and open storage area. He throws his ax to you, obviously wishing to trade. You toss him your sword, and you begin a duel. You clang your weapons, block, dodge, deflect, strike, swing. Using an ax is new to you. Chroi stops after a minute. “The purpose of an ax, is to always be swinging,” his Edagnian is not very good, but after a few times of him repeating it, you get a better idea. “Keep swinging. Never stop. Make me think you're going to attack from up high, down low, from the left, from right, from high, from left.” You try again, swinging wildly above your head, in wide arcs from the left and right. He dodges, ventures a stab, its deflected and repeat. You get the idea and soon you are threatening him from all angles. You switch back to your sword, and continue. This time, while he swings his ax, you have a much greater appreciation of the momentum that he is pulling, and where its actually possible for him to attack from. After several bouts, it becomes fairly easy for you to determine his movements and take advantage of it. |
