The other way to go about this is, instead of us speeding up, we find ways of slowing him down. The mist will help with some of this, but he'd be an idiot not to expect mist at this point and will likely have a counter for it. Perhaps a sticky-floor or other such jutsu.

A visit to a concerned but happy to see you Aya reveals that she has a small file on the Raikage, seems that not many people who fight him live to tell the tale. Funny you should ask, we never really brought up parents. From the way we are I don't see us having much of a family life anyway. Our professionalism seems to stem from either a driving parent pushing us, or a way to find acceptance immediately from strangers due to our lack of any parental figures in our past. More than likely, our parents died in one of the many violent conflicts seen in the Bloody Mist in the past years.

Also, Kimimaro has literally just started living with Orochimaru as the Kaguya clan massacre was less than year ago. Orochimaru is priming him for being his new host in three body cycles. The skeleton of it is evident in the original sourcebook and I've certainly shown one thing that's unique to the Mist, Dual Roles in a Duo. We're more effective at doing more with less, but large scale teamwork isn't really our thing, neither is working outside of our element be it without water or without the teammates we're used to having.

Cloud gets basically an upgraded form of Prejudce, the Feat.

News of the Raikage's fury reaches the village the next day, where he is handled by the Mizukage. It turns out he wants a duel with you, since in his eyes its tantamount to an execution. The only drawback, however, is that the fight will take place in Lightning Country, and there's nothing the Mizukage could say or do to have him do it in Mist. So, instead, she and he both agree that they will conduct the battle in the Land of Fire, the Fourth Hokage's agreement coming quickly as he promises to send ANBU agents to supervise the even as well as some higher level Jonin. Now that you are aware of your setting and time you begin working.

Using the water from the pool you use your intimate knowledge of Water Style Jutsu to combine with the Water Clone and bring the water up around your body, like armor, leaving narrow air passages for you to breathe in as you learn to negotiate yourself in it as well as fight with your sword in its new lighter arm, the gauntlet helping bridge the gap.

After the day's training you and Yuki go to her house where he treats your bones, infuses them with her chakra, and feeds you herbs which will spike your growth a little bit to enable your body to adapt to the bones and the Kekkei Genkai you are slowly inheriting. By the end of two weeks you are able to sprout a single prong of iron hard bone from the top of your wrist.

Your team-mates, meanwhile, have learned to work better together. Gendo is more comfortable with summoning his crocodiles, Tetsuo is even more reliable with his dash, Saito actually learns a few offensive techniques, and Waraji controls his anger enough for him to use Battlemind for a whole five minutes before burning out in a huff of anger. Mangetsu's health, meanwhile, is a little frightening as some days he's too weak to work, and others he's manic and active. According to Yuki he is fighting with a potentially lethal disease that not even she can cure.

Your team's main focus, however, is counter ANBU tactics. All of your members take to carrying gourds of water from the Sanctuary with them, learning to unleash a small pulse of water that will stop prematurely if it hits anything, allowing you to detect ANBU even whilst completely hidden, as they are still material. In addition, Tetsuo has taken extreme focus to sniffing out even the slight of chakra activity, making his senses all the more intense.


Before you depart for the Land of Fire Gen greets you at the village gate with a small patch of paper, "This is a Wind-element scroll. It's extremely temporary and works a single time. If you wrap it around your blade and turn on the saw instead of water and fire you get a buzzing wind blade. However, if you do this your blade cannot be used for at least a week since the elemental nature ruins the...you know what, you probably don't care or understand anyway. Long story short, use it, but don't turn your sword's saw on again or you will rupture it." And with that you set off.

One of them is a dark haired man who is sitting on a fence post smoking. He's chatting up a pretty brunette woman with red eyes, and beside the both of them is another dark haired man with a bowl-cut and a look of interest as he listens in. Despite their rather toned down appearances you can sense that they are powerful individuals.

The Raikage speaks up, "I have an announcement. I have fallen ill as of recent, my health on the wane due to my age. As a result, I announce it here that I renounce my claim to the name of Raikage and give it to my son, A." He says and coughs, his son smiling wickedly, "As a result, your duel today is with A." The Jonin from the Leaf all stand up at once and turn to see your reaction, apparently expecting you to charge them and cut them in half.

It's already dyed in Hidden Mist colors, and we can just say that we noticed the neckguards that the Konoha ones have, and had one of ours customized to have one. Unless they actually get ahold of our jacket, they can't get confirmation that it was originally a Konoha shinobi's.

As for if the Leaf ninjas recognize the armor...well, they may disapprove of us using it and changing the colors. But they also hate the guy who originally wore it, and the Cloud ninjas, so they might give us a pass on that.

So anyway, our plan doesn't change too much; A still uses the same basic strategy and techniques as the Third Raikage. We can still implement our plan unchanged. The big worry is A's speed.

I don't think this is a feint on his part, he probably really has grown weak, making a prospective fight with him preferred, and maybe even better for the mission. I mean, if Yondaime dies, command returns to Sandaime, and we have killed a powerful ninja, but their more experienced leader remains. I guess it depends on who we see as the more valuable target, and perhaps the more opportune target. Fighting A now /might/ be good, since he is less experienced, but they are confident enough to promote him and send him to us. They could just be underestimating us though.
Anyways, after all this waffling, I think we should target the Third, just because they don't want us to, though I look forward to other input on the point. Also, I don't think we are under any real obligation to fight A if we don't want to, it might look petty to try and argue the point though.

Like I said, Willow Whisper is our major gamble here if we want to deal with his speed. If we can couple it with a Wind Scroll powered punch we might be able to do enough damage to seal his speed in our first counter-attack.

On a side-note, now that everyone realizes how broke-ass Willow Whisper is, how should we fix it? I'd say instead of an auto-block we make it a competing Taijutsu check since it's based off of our weapon skill. That'd also work as a general rule for weapon maneuvers now that I think about it.

While thinking up sick burns to troll the Third is fun, we should probably be figuring out how the hell we are going to actually kill one of them. I don't know the combat rules very well, but I imagine hitting something called Lightning Armor would shock the shit out of you (the wiki article on it doesn't say this though, it just speaks to it being a physical and defensive buff). We have the idea grounding him with water, but it is a high level technique, so we can't expect it to be countered easily; it might discharge the armor, requiring him to refocus it and give us an opening.
Something I like in general for Shimaru is insubstantial clones, cheaper and easier to make than a full water clone, but incapable of doing damage. The standard bunshin would be fine, but it can be seen through by an observant opponent since it doesn't affect the environment. Something like a "mist clone" that has just enough substance to stir the air (since I think the mist not moving around a standard bunshin would be a dead give away) and disturb the ground would be ideal. If someone commits to an attack on one, they are vulnerable to an attack from us; use them in tandem on offense, and they have to dodge an attack coming from multiple directions or risk parrying the wrong one. I imagine a kiribunshin no jutsu would use the same principles as mizubunshin, so I hope we could pull it off without specific training.
Also, I doubt he has any strong perception skills, so I think we should be trying to take full advantage of restricted visibility in the mist. If he can't see us, he can't use his speed to get that alpha strike in, which we both rely on. In fact it might be worth going for an immediate attack, before/while he's trying to perform supplementary jutsu like the lightning armor. If he goes evasive, then we should just set up the mist, since we probably won't be able to catch him, but a preemptive strike might be our best bet.
